I mean, she said herself that is was based off her husband’s discomfort. Even before factoring in her husband, this is something she was not opposed to doing so it is not like she was having a moral crisis about it earlier. Her asking about “haram di kamai” is something that came afterwards in her train of thought after her husband’s rejection of what she wanted to do. What I wanted to critique is that sometimes trying to apply principles from a bygone era to something like this is not practical, and that shoehorning religion is not necessary for what she wants to do. She is free to reject my opinion if she is truly dedicated to being a full on practicing Muslim but just from reading the OP whether it was “haram di kamai” was not something she was thinking about. Literally, this is how dumb religious debates come about. People try to mask their hatred or discomfort of something “modern” and try to shoehorn religion in to give their discomfort some weight when it doesn’t add anything but appeal to peoples morals.

I’m getting flak for it because people think me stating objective truths (that Islam was established in the 7th century and thus would have some principles that were products of the time of Muhammed) is somehow attacking their entire being.

Open a thread about it in the Religion & Philosophy Section.

As for this thread, I think constructive advice can be provided without touching religion.

I think the above comment provides a reasonable guideline on how to approach religion online and in real life. Cliff Notes: Avoid talking about religion (& politics) unless the other person brings it up.

Exactly, OP wanted religious guidance hence people were giving her that no matter if she posted in relationship forum, nobody went out of their way to give religious guidance. If this thread is not appropriate for this forum then it should have been moved to religion forum by mods as its their responsibility.

She knew OP wants religious guidance but she still came to pass her ignorant remarks. I think she was “free” enough not to read or just ignore this thread but she went out of her way to pass such comments to harass religious folks on this forum.

I have no interest in doing that. However, just because I do not want to do it does not mean it is an invalid thing to do. I do not want to ice skate, doesn’t mean I think it is an inferior thing to do. If you read the OP, she says this:

I offered an alternative viewpoint to the root of her issues. I didn’t go around responding to people’s advice and telling them that they are inferior for being practicing Muslims, so no, it is not “harassment” kiddo.

Not necessarily sis. She is the one in control isn’t she? She doesn’t have to heed what each and every customer wants her to do. Sure, she won’t be making big bucks like some other gals but she isn’t looking forward to this as a full time career.
