Re: Do girls still get touched up whilst shopping in Pakistan?
I was molested by a woman on a bus in karachi... It was so crowded inside, i couldn't even see who was behind me. She kept grabbing my butt for about good 5 mins and i just didnt know WHAT to do. for first few mins i honestly thought someone accidentally just put their hands on me. Sick pervs everywhere.
Re: Do girls still get touched up whilst shopping in Pakistan?
omg… im scared of going to pakistan now
thang god , touching and stuff have never happened to me , or at least as far as i can remember. But last time we visited pakistan, i was around 13-14 and staring was very common, i mean even if i had dupatta covering head and parts of body. When visiting the village side we have to wear these big dupattas/chadars and cover face too, but yet ppl stare! I dont get it WHY?
Re: Do girls still get touched up whilst shopping in Pakistan?
some of these stories are horrible, esp the ones regarding children. :(
it has happend to me everytime i've been back to pakistan and walking around in crowded bazaars. its simply not true that it only happens to women who wear short sleeved kameez etc like some other poster mentioned because some of my cousins wear full niqab/abaya and it even happens to them. they still get touched up and even get asked for their mobile numbers even though all u can see is their eyes! perverts are everywhere and they will stare at u regardless of how u dress
I had to laugh at the dressing description. But only because it makes me feel less alone. I always cover my hair and wear a huge chadar as well as dressing as paindu as possible whenever I go back to Pakistan and need to go shopping. A) hoping to ward off the unnecessary stares and touches and B) so the storeowners don’t rip me off thinking I am from abroad.
Unfortunately the paindu dressing has not helped accomplish my goals. Mabey only a little bit with storeowners thing. But I feel like it is a lost cause in Pakistan with the staring and touching problem Whoever posted that it is caused from a girl’s “hulya” is wrong. As people have said again and again…even with huge ass chadars, burqas, niqabs, hijabs, etcs… it does not thwart anything.
Funny story tho. One time we stopped at a McDonalds to eat lunch after a long morning of shopping. I was dressed in my usual covered/paindu way … and didnt really care especially because we were at McDonalds and I have the US image of it being a fast food crap joint in my head. We sit down to eat and I overhear some random auntie at the next table say “hai kinnay changay log hain …nukraani ko treat dilhaarein hain”
So basically I still get harassed when I go to Pakistan and I also have people thinking I am the nukraani.
Question: have any of you girls experienced these same unfortunate situations if you are out and about with your hubby, father, or brother in Pakistan???

haha..your post made me laugh..lol they might thought how good the people are ..naukrani ko mcdonalds kela rahai hai..lol..
I am always in Abaya and hijab in Lahore and I have this fierce angry face whenever I go out. Even if someone looks woh darr kar mou mour lete hain and touching is another matter. Plus am hatti katti lambi kurri I'll kick their arse if they did. So yeh never happened. Although someone was annoying my newly wed mami once and I slapped the dude in the DVD store.
You're super tall too, i bet you tower over some of the men in lahore in burqa ahahaha! You are like Massi Destruction!
Re: Do girls still get touched up whilst shopping in Pakistan?
Yeah i once got harassed by a group of college girls in Islamabad. We were on a trip to Murree when a bus full of college girls stopped right in front of me. I was minding my own business taking pictures. All of the sudden a group of 5 or 6 "awara" girls gathered around me and started singing a really crappy old song. It went something like this, "Aankhain Ghazal hain aap ki, aur hoant hain ghulaaab...!." I became so embarrassed and made a run for it. So not only men its the "college girls" too there!
