Ok. Let me burst that bubble right now.
The following table shows a breakdown of the fare for each traveller type.

So, even though the fare is only INR 100, the fees and taxes are about INR 4460.00
of course, you have to pay the charges and taxes. which sector the fare is for as shown by you? for such sectors, the fare would have been close to Rs. 10,000 or more.
show us the origin and destination as well, please. is it a round-trip fare that you have quoted? if it is then the total round trip fare would have been over Rs. 20,000.

Re: Air India offering domestic fares for Rs 100 [US $1.65] on Air India Day
Last year Indigo airlines offered sale fare of INR 1. A friend tried to book and found out about these taxes.
service charges and taxes are chargeable by ALL airlines.
Toronto-Delhi-Toronto fare on British Airways is $1200 out of which $700 are taxes and service charges.

True. i pay Rs. 2500 from Bombay to Lucknow [a 2 hours and 10 minute flight]…it’s like $45…nowhere in the world you can buy that long flight for that price.

do you know why they have this type of breakdown?
The difference is, most of those taxes and charges depend on the base fare. Usually some percentage of it. In India, if am not wrong, they are just some fixed numbers. But I see your point that it is still a good fare.

Yeah...how careless of you!! what is r?
Also, CAD is stronger than USD.
at one time a couple of years ago, Canadian dollar was worth $1.10 US but our dollar is always on 'life support' and is down to it's auqaat now...CAD is trading these days at 91 cents to one US dollar. :(
