Whats with the Barailvies??

Re: Whats with the Barailvies??

azaan and its sound is accepted by all muslims of whatever sect.....and its only 2-3 minutes at most......as opposed to hours of loud songy'ish so called naats.

and i am talking about pakistan here........its a specific issue that you don't know anything about..

PS...... if you don't know about what is being talked about......... just go and champion gay penguins rights...would you?

well....for the sake of argument....lets assume i am ''younger lot" ......i have listened to lots of songs and bollywood and whatnot..........
what happens when some song tune naat is being sung?........ the song comes to my mind.......the tune reminds you of bollywood song, the movie, the scene rather than taking you towards allah........

its ok if you want to be entertained by songs with halaal stamp on them...........but its not getting closer to allah for sure.........

and secondly....... the above reply was only for the specific point you raised........

the main point i wanted to raise was......... disturbing the peace of mind of whole neighborhood and violating their 'huqooq-ul-ibaad' with a religous justification..........

i don't give a 'profinity word' about what people do within their homes quietly.......they can listen to whatever they want , dance/whirl all they want........as long as they are not blocking the road and torturing people's ear drums.........

Re: Whats with the Barailvies??

Pakistan mein jis ka dil krta hai bahir roads block kr kay Mehfil krwata hai ya shadi dun care about neighbours and full awaz mein music lgaya hota hai

Re: Whats with the Barailvies??

..

Re: Whats with the Barailvies??

The point I was trying to make was we all tolerate and even welcome certain types of loud announcements but God forbid, if the anouncements do not match our likes, we rail against them.

On topic now?

Re: Whats with the Barailvies??

Nomi already explained it well.

Re: Whats with the Barailvies??

It just shows how badly they want to be able to listen to Bollywood music, making it 'halal' for themselves. You either listen to music or you don't, don't go about prancing about like a righteous molvi when the naats you listen to are practically bollywood love songs.

Re: Whats with the Barailvies??

Some one needs to tell them its ok to sing songs. They don't have to call them na'at.
Music is ok.

Re: Whats with the Barailvies??

majority muslim terrorists all over universe belongs to a specific school of thought.....

so can i run a thread posting wt with ............?

is it allowed?

Re: Whats with the Barailvies??

^Exactly. I'm not going to pretend to be an expert here or anything but it's a natural fact that music is pleasant on the ears and everyone wants to listen to it. It's also a fact that music isn't categorically forbidden anywhere in the Quran. Just listen to actual music once in a while and spare us the bollynaats will ya.

Re: Whats with the Barailvies??

i need your references.

Re: Whats with the Barailvies??

I'll let my former boss know.

Re: Whats with the Barailvies??

STA,its other way round. You should bring the evidence, where it is forbidden. I’m not expert on the matter, but I found verse 6 of Surah Luqman (Chapter 31) dealing with matter:

Re: Whats with the Barailvies??

You can't compare Rumi's immaculate love for God and his wisdom of Sufism to the cheap Bollywood type Naats that are devoid of any meaning of the Love of God. Read Rumi's poetry and then Read these cheap naats then ask yourself which one draws you nearer?

Re: Whats with the Barailvies??

wow, i must be living under a rock or something..i have NEVER heard these before!!! don’t have much of this going on in our neck of the woods (texas). 'effing ridiculous!

Re: Whats with the Barailvies??

I just want to clarify that ‘Tu Cheez bari hai mast mast’, was a cheap imitation of a very famous religious qawwali of Nusrat Fateh Ali. I dont know of Nasheed that you are talking about but if you never heard, then please listen to this beautiful piece by NFK

Re: Whats with the Barailvies??

^^Yep that's what I was talking about in my post earlier

I totally agree. A lot of times what happens when I'm talking to a so-called "religious person" and I will mention naat or hamd but instead call it a song (I mean, really... that's what a naat is... a devotional song, or hymn just you are attaching an Arabic word to it rather than just calling it a 'song') and they will correct me immediately and say that it's not a song. There really is no difference... the human voice is just another instrument instrument anyway.

As far as 'bollynaats' being disrespectful because they remind the person of the scene rather than Allah, that's definitely debatable. Sound happens to be the sense that is second-most connected with memory (after smell), and it so happens that music is based on perceived consonance created by the frequency intervals of pitches sounding in succession. Most songs, whether the tune is explicitly based on a bollywood song or is some original naat composition, will be based on these basic keys and scales for which everyone will have associated different memories based on their experiences. There is no guarantee that whether the "naat" is composed to the tune of a bollywood song or not, the person will refrain from thinking about a memory which is irrelevant to religion. I think that just depends entirely on the persons intentions for listening to the "naat" in the first place.

Re: Whats with the Barailvies??

I'm not halalifying any bollywood tune naats neither am I a fan of the trend.

Your point is noted and agreed with.

Sufism takes the cake for me. Bollywood naats could top the list for someone else. May be you and I find them cheap and start thinking of bollywood scenes upon listening to these naats, but someone else could find total peace and harmony in these nasheeds. T'is all I'm saying.

Re: Whats with the Barailvies??

Oh jeez no man! You took it way too negative. Honestly I am not even sure if its them green pagri blokes that are Barelvis or what. Never taken much interest into this whole sect business, never been a point of interest really. If you are a barelvi, much respect. If you aren’t, well, just as good.

Alright I don’t mean to offend anyone, but the last time I was visiting home I saw this TV channel these green pagri peeps have going. Man that stuff was funny to say the least. But then again, in the wise words of Rocky Bilboa, “people do what they wanna do”. Its all good bro, all good. :k:
