Lately, I haven't been that motivated to cook wifeys been feeding me daal and subji with home made rotis which I am enjoying. Last night I requested an omelet with the daal which she made. I dont make many requests but nice to know when I make requests she obliges happily.

I made chicken shami and pilau today. Mrs was telling me she doesnt feel like eating meat lately but she really enjoyed the shami, I also make bun kebab with the shami.
Basically same as beef shami but in beef I let the beef get half way done before I put daal, with boneless chicken breast I put daal and chicken together. Take boneless chicken breast cubed, 1/4 channa dal to chicken, quartered onions, garlic, ginger, sabut laal mrch, salt and add enough water for boiling that it almost evaporates, Once daal is tender and water evaporated mix a generous amount of Jeera powder, a bit garam massal crushed chilli, I also add, hara dhania, hari mirch, onions and dash of yogurt and use a hand blender to puree. The first pic is of the ingredients before puree. Coat with egg and then fry. They are a massive hit with my wife. Tomorrow I will do beef. Chicken breast is blend so add ample harra dhania and spices.
Stay tuned for some Hyderabadi biryyani it is in the oven, this stuff about kucchi chicken makes me nervous. I gave the pot with chicken a 15 minute head start in the oven before topping with rice and also made chicken pieces small as it increases the surface area for marinade and cooks faster. Didn't have saffron at home so that is a bummer. I initially thought that we didn't have harra dhania but thanks god I found some in the kitchen upstairs. Mrs had gone shopping.
OH YEAAAAA!!!..the hydrabadi biryanni turned out like heaven exploding in the mouth, my taste buds havent been titillated like this in a long time. If by some miracle my wife manages to get me in heaven when I die, I want to eat the Hydrabadi Biryyani there every day

My boy is coming back home tomorrow evening, he has matured so much just at 18. Leaving home really matures people. I will make a daawat for him, I am cooking a huge pot of nihari for him. My nihari is famous in my city. The secret is in the good quality meat and slow simmer all night and fresh ground masala.
