I caught the second half of the first episode on Geo last night and OMG I got totally hooked. So, I obviously youtubed it and watched the first 3 episodes!
The performances so far as so good! Especially Faisal Qureshi! You can't help but feel broken hearted, sad, guilty and everything with him.
I don't know if its going to continue being this good, but I really love it so far.
Ok so I just went through the thread and I can understand the frustration most people find with adaptations. But, I did read some of the novel last night as well, and I must say I could not stand it. Her writing really does not stand out. The story is more suited for television than for a novel.
yaayyy! its finally starting tonight (sat) in USA 8 pm ET, good news for Sajalina who's been asking for a while :)
Hehehe..... this weekened had been real busy with guests and all and by chance I turned on tv this afternoon....and to my surprise it was going to be on next. Recorded it, havn't watched it yet.

I am not a huge fan of the novel and this was one of her first novels I think so the immaturity (dare I say) shows. I do like the message the story provides and for that I do admire Umera very much.
I don't think she has a great style of writing but there is something about her stories, for me it's the message and the self analysis that they make me do while I'm reading a Peer-e-Kaamil or a Lahasil that makes me a mini-fan of hers :)

I agree....
I havent read all of her books...just 3-4...I really liked Peer-e-Kaamil and I decided to read it when I heard great reviews about it...
I read Meri Zaat...when I heard the drama was coming out...
It was ok,nothing too great..(no offense intended)...it was so predictable...
IMO the drama is an ok adaptation...and the people playing the lead roles are doing a pretty nice job with the characters in the actual novel...

Oh ok that makes more sense that's it is one of her earlier novels. I agree the story is very powerful, even if it is very predictable.
I haven't read Lahasil or Peer-e-kamil but maybe I will :)
Great episode today!!! I absolutely loved the way the older Arfeen enters Saba's home. You could see his failure and extreme dejection in his walk. Great Acting by Faisal Qureshi :)
And Samina Peerzada doing her tasbeeh even while she's talking was just hilarious :D wonderful acting again by her.
i loved the scene from when he grabbed the jaan-e-maaz to when they showed him sitting on the chair. it came together soooo beautifully with the flashback included. it just gave this realization that saba still spent her time doin ibadat to thnk God for arfeen. even after what she went through. and the fact that arfeen saw that, imagine what he must have felt!
because of this drama, i almost start liking faisal qureshi :S
i really do think too that this scene everyone is talking about above was great. seriously faisal qureshi did a great job.
I was crying by the first 10 mins of the drama in the first episode. lol It is really good and has me hooked. So far I have liked all of the dramas based on Umera's novels really. Lahaasil was good too. All the actors/actresses are acting pretty well, especially Fasial Qureshi, one of my favorite actors.
