Good thing we don't have pro-terrorist channels like Geo and ARY to telecast sob tales in support of terrorists like they did with lal masjid. Good to see air power and artillery being used now instead of ground infantry alone.
That's so true. We remember how Geo and ARY were practically making the likes of Ghazi and his Lal Masjid terrorists out to be some kind of martyrs, and whipping up sympathy for them as the government forces closed in. They were interviewing Ghazi right to the point before he was killed, and giving him ample airtime to put across his sorry case. Can you imagine any media in the west interviewing Al Qaida supporting terrorists as their countries forces are moving in against them, and allowing them to paint themselves as the wronged party?
^Thats because they are a news channel... If Ghazi calls, any sane media person would let him speak... Its free media, and EVERYONE is entitled to it.
The govt on its part should have warned the news channel that they will not tolerate such things, but instead of dialogue, they govt chooses to bully and intimidate its opponents.
The govt should regulate the media, but it should be done through consensus. If the govt feels its is being misrepresented, or me maligned, then it should take the station to court... In a free and democratic society, there is no question of taking the media of the air...
These fanatics are the result of alliance between mullahs and Army generals in Pakistan.
