Pakistan Army launches Massive Swat Operation - 33 militants killed

Re: Pakistan Army launches Massive Swat Operation - 33 militants killed

Mashallah. Excellent news.

Re: Pakistan Army launches Massive Swat Operation - 33 militants killed

Brilliant news, shame Mush didn’t do it at the start, instead he let the militants run riot so he can get the excuse to impose emergency. Shame on him.

Re: Pakistan Army launches Massive Swat Operation - 33 militants killed

Good thing we don't have pro-terrorist channels like Geo and ARY to telecast sob tales in support of terrorists like they did with lal masjid. Good to see air power and artillery being used now instead of ground infantry alone.

Re: Pakistan Army launches Massive Swat Operation - 33 militants killed

This is so ironic. Heres your response in the other thread:

You wish for air power and artillery to be used in an area where you know civilians live and dont wish to hear about consequences. To this day Muhajirs havent forgotten what the army did in Karachi, you cheer along for something even more indiscriminate in Swat?

Its beyond hypocritical.

Saying they're all terrorists doesnt change the fact that its a settled area with mostly noncombatants. Civilians, women and children are dying in Swat. Yes the militants hide amongst them, but wasnt that the reason offered for general brutality in Karachi? You can think that its a necessary step but man, bloodlust is so unbecoming on someone who also still remembers what it feels like to be an undeserving victim.

Re: Pakistan Army launches Massive Swat Operation - 33 militants killed

In this case, the civilians in Swat have had their livelihood which rested on tourism destroyed by the taliban. Many civilians have already streamed out of Swat under threat of Taliban murderers. Taliban wants to rule Swat by force. Don't even try to compare this situation with MQM, which was a popular movement of mohajirs asking for rights denied. Mohajirs did not leave Karachi to hide from MQM. This is about terrorists trying to impose their rule over the peaceful people of Swat through brutal acts of beheadings and suicide bombings.

Refer to Pakora's earlier post where he relates some inside information from people of swat who are fed up with terrorists. In war, civilians always die and it is sad and I wish it never had come to this. But because of lethargy by army and terrorist collaborators in our political system, action could not be taken earlier. Now, the more we wait, the more innocent people will die. This is why we have to use full force now or lose Swat forever. This is not blood lust, but reality.

Re: Pakistan Army launches Massive Swat Operation - 33 militants killed

Good to see the Militants continue to have a hard time.

Forty militants injured in Pakistan

Re: Pakistan Army launches Massive Swat Operation - 33 militants killed

Anyone have any inside info on this ; relatives, etc who might be living in the area who can support or negate the reports coming out of the area?

Re: Pakistan Army launches Massive Swat Operation - 33 militants killed

That's (sadly) true. When state uses power, it may take care of the problem, but there is always an issue of long term bitterness and worse! Separatists feelings. Here are some examples.

  1. 1864 A.D. -- Abraham Lincoln defeated the anti-nationalist southern rebels. Still the rebel flag flies high in many parts of the American south. And yes 150 years have not been enough to reduce the animosity.

  2. David Koresh in Waco Texas - Branch Davidians and their leader was burned down by the American government. The result was Oklahoma bombing. And yes there are people in the USA who still harbor ill feelings about the Government action.

  3. Islamic history is filled with such episodes of killings and counter killings. Muawia family lost Hazrat Usman rah while Abi Talib's family member Hazrat Hassan stood guard outside Usman's home.

Hazrat Ali became Khalifa, and Amir Moawia family went to war. The result was 10,000 sahab's death.

Same Moawia family took revenge later by killing Hazrat Hussain. And guess what a brand new branch "Shia" sect started.

So yes, there would be consequences of Army action in Swat. However the result of doing nothing will be even more horrible for the stability and security of Pakistan.

Thus we are deciding about which is the lesser of the two bad outcomes: Let Taliban expand, or kill Taliban and risk civilian deaths and resulting hate against Pakistan.

I see you are supporting not to kill Taliban. And you may be proven right in the long term.

Unfortunately state machinary doesn't share your view, so they will go after the Talibanic menace.

Peace and love to all

Re: Pakistan Army launches Massive Swat Operation - 33 militants killed

Good thing is that no media hype and studio warriors criticizing government actions, plus no black-face judges and lawyers shouting and creating hurdle for the government. Now army can do their duty without obstacle from yellow journalists on pay roll of past corrupts, sold-out judges, and corrupt lawyers.

Re: Pakistan Army launches Massive Swat Operation - 33 militants killed

30 militants killed yesterday, 15 more today.

Some 165 militants killed in total now.

Re: Pakistan Army launches Massive Swat Operation - 33 militants killed

I am sure the media is "dying" to broadcast Mullah Fazlullah's sermons.

Re: Pakistan Army launches Massive Swat Operation - 33 militants killed

They sure were having a great time broadcasting Ghazi's cries for help "bacha lo, bacha lo, we're innocent, we dont have weapons, we just want all these kids to grow up to be good muslims. Mashallah, subhanallah..." and all that crap.

I would imagine that if Radio Mullah got in contact with these newstations, they'd be the first to telecast them.

Re: Pakistan Army launches Massive Swat Operation - 33 militants killed

^^ yea. Media's behavior during lal masjid fiasco was simply treasonous.

Re: Pakistan Army launches Massive Swat Operation - 33 militants killed

Update.

60 militants dead today in Shangla operation](http://www.nation.com.pk/daily/nov-2007/21/index5.php)

So 210 militants have now been killed over the last one week.

Re: Pakistan Army launches Massive Swat Operation - 33 militants killed

See, the emergency is working. :)

Re: Pakistan Army launches Massive Swat Operation - 33 militants killed

^ are you saying army is capable of fighting militants only in "emergency" situation?

Mashallah. See, the emergency was indeed needed. Long may it continue. :k:

Re: Pakistan Army launches Massive Swat Operation - 33 militants killed

Lol... Figures...
The MQM people claim to be for the rights of the people, and yet they support a dictator and his dictatorial rule against the hallmark of democracy, a free and independant media...

Re: Pakistan Army launches Massive Swat Operation - 33 militants killed

Have any of you noticed that all the casualty reports are coming from the military themselves? The Military says it killed 125!!! You gotta be kidding me. How are they even counting?
And how many times has the military ever told the truth?!?!

The militants on their part are denying the figures given by the army...
If recent events is anything to go by, the Militants are far more honest then the Military is...

And for those of you who think the Emergency is the answer to all your prayers... Remember that the only reason the Pak Army is incapable of fighting the militants, is because the Army and inteligence are far to embroiled in politics and self preservation to be concerned with defending the country...
If Musharaf did his actual job as a general, we wouldnt need a state of emergency and the Army would focus on its job at hand.
