I don't have a problem with all your post, however this paragraph is quite unfair and I think I have something to say about it.
Apart from the obvious generalizing of how "indians" are doing alot better than us and us "pakis" are doing so badly, I'm not sure I like the tone of "even bengalis".. it displays a load of arrogance and an air of superiority. Thats how I felt anyway, try and avoid it because its just not *needed *and can be offensive to some. Secondly, its NOT exactly fair to degrade cab drivers/factory workers and all the rest of them that have had to take up labour/manual work for whatever reasons, yeah? Go ahead, encourage people to get an education, become the best they can become but do not look down on someone out there who is a cabbie/factory worker because for all you know, they might actually be working for all their worth simply to educate their kids/manage their families and some of them may not even have had the chance to get an education. I personally know of people like I've described and just did not like the sound of that particular paragraph.. I can understand bashing yobs/thugs but to degrade and look down on someone who is only trying to earn a living is just unfair.
EDIT: oh and I think I need to add one more thing. I disagree completely with the whole view about how its these "paki yobs" that are pushing more people into supporting the BNP.. because its not just Pakistanis that the BNP are intolerant towards.. its anyone from anywhere 'foreign'.. Indians, Bengalis etc all included.
However, I agree about local mosques needing to take a more active role in influencing society.

Urdudaan, Pashtun and Mainland-Punjabi kids tend not to be as ghetto or Yobbish, I have Mainland-Punjabi relatives in London and Pashtun ones here in the north and none of them are Yobbish (pimps and druggies).
Most Paki Yobs I've seen are Mirpuri-Punjabi, I have nothing against Mirpuris (I love all Pakis) but I wish they'd move away from ghetto culture because they're giving us all a bad name.
I come from a blue collar family but we're well integrated within our community, we grew up playing with white kids and never did they have an objection to our religion, at prayer times our mothers would call us in and they respected that, their mothers'd make halal food for us at parties n stuff... good old days... Pakis in the big cities/towans are nasty! they alienate themselves from the rest of the country hence the growing racism against us..

A lot of British Muslims do but it's not enough, we need to have conferences and lectures against terrorism at the big Mosques for British Muslims from all over the country to attend, espcially for the youngsters, local Mosques also need to have Friday sermons on the issues of terrorism.
Mosques need to take a more active role in teaching these Yobs what the true Islam is and what it is not, otherwise they all seem to want to join these groups you mentioned when they've had enough of booze and women, because it's more cooler than praying at a normal mosque.
I think Muslim TV channels need to condemn terrorism aswell and show the world that Islam forbids killing innocent civillians, animals, plants etc.
I'm a freelance (non-sect) Muslim but my Mosque is a Tableeghi Jamaat one and I've asked a few of them on their views on terrorism and they're all against it and condemn it (but I think they need to get on the pulpit/mimbar and condemn it from there) and they are also against the group you mentioned, not just for political reasons but also because it has theologically incorrect beliefs (aqeedah).
Our Imams need to get their act together and do more, ok so wearing the pants above the ankles is also important but dude get your priorities right there's more urgent issues facing the community which need to be addressed.
Just because America is wrong in declaring war on Muslim countries does not make terrorism right, it does not justify terrorism, two wrongs do not make a right, there's wrongs on both sides and as ambassadors of Islam it's our duty to forbid the wrong even if it's from our side.
PS. What's wrong with sister Yvonne Ridley? She's not a member of the group you mentioned is she? I'm not aware of her political opnions but I've seen her on Islamic TV channels a few times and she seems like a very charismatic lady. I like Western white Muslims like her and brother Yusuf Estes, I think they bridge the gap between the Muslim world and the West (I wish they'd keep their Anglo names though to show Islam is not here to destroy cultures, Islam doesn't require us to change our names if they had good meanings).

if they're copying a feature of the local culture surely the local culture has to take some of the blame, instead of decent white men turning to the BNP. they didnt bring this culture with them on the boat, and they wouldnt fit in if they were to be sent back.
