Re: New Moms Shopping Saga
Akmoti, in the gulf you need to know where to shop ;)
Sgc, will you pls share with me when stores have their sale and also if there is anything worthwhile online. Shopping with no kid = awesome, with one kid = doable. Two kids = next to impossible. Now it is more like grab and go.
i think everywhere in the mall is on sale now!
check Joe Fresh, Baby Gap (Online [free shipping!] and In Store), Zara Kids and H&M Kids for sure. I hate Children's Place and Gymboree with a passion- they have nothing but extremely boring, non-stylish boy's clothes probably because the poor boys get 1% of the store while the rest is filled with adorable girls clothing. Boooo! :p
Re: New Moms Shopping Saga
^automne please visit zara and H&M!
i went yesterday they have amazing collection! here one single top was for 11 dinars($30) on sale :(
so please take the advantage of being in canada ;)
Re: New Moms Shopping Saga
Mirage , I am thinking along the following lines:
Getting baby essentials as a priority that will include: Baby carrier or Pram along with car seat Baby Cot Mattress , bedding Baby Blanket for the cot and also a lighter one for the baby pram ( for when we out) changing mat Baby gro's perhaps 3-4 of them. Formal baby clothing for the first month. Not more then one or two. Baby monitor Baby bath seat Nappies, toiletries Feeding bottle, just one incase I struggle with BF A tiny stuffed toy to use when baby becomes a month old inshallah. A baby bag.
**Rest of the things, I plan to buy once the baby arrives inshallah: **baby sling educational toys more feeding bottles clothes.
darlin', if by baby gro's you mean onesies, then you'll need more like 10 -12 initially. they spit up lots when they're new and you don't have the time or energy to run the wash then while figuring out everything else.
get 4-5 onesies in the newborn size, and at least 6 in the 0-3 months size. if they're over 7lbs, newborn size won't work for them so you can exchange them for 0-3 month ones later on, so keep the receipts. if they're under, you're good for a day or so and can send hubby out to buy more newborn onesies. it really is astonishing the amount of laundry a wee baby can generate!
for blankets, get a pack of receiving blankets. there are usually 3-4 in one pack and you can have backups on hand in case they get dirty, which they also do pretty quick.
Re: New Moms Shopping Saga
good advice, however, the flip side is that co-sleeping has many, many benefits too and there are ways to do it safely (for eg: co-sleeping helps new babies regulate their breathing because they time it according to their moms when they hear her breathing. isn’t that amazing?). a co-sleeper attaches to the side of your bed and is just like a crib but with three sides up (the open side is next to your bed). that way, the baby has his own space but he is still right next to you. plus, it is much, much easier to breastfeed since you just reach over and grab the baby instead of having to walk across the hall to their room, which gets really tiring if you’re doing it every two hours and you’ve only had 4 hours of sleep yourself!
Arm’s Reach Universal Co-Sleeper & Bedside Cot - Kiddicare - YouTube
if you don’t want to buy a co-sleeper, you can also have a pack’n’play next to your bed, or even a crib/cot but put one side down and have three sides up. the side that is down gets pushed against your bed just like the co-sleeper. pack’n’plays even have change tables built into them and many have wheels so you can move them from room to room- Graco Canada | Pack 'N Plays
you can also purchase a little co-sleeping “bed” that sits on your bed and have the baby in that. this is what i did for the first few months. it was built so you couldn’t roll over on it.

Which gymboree are you going to? I love love love Gymboree!!! I have found the cutest matching outfits n shoes at Gymboree n no where !!! Our H&M though doesn't have much for little boys and I don't like that. :-(
Re: New Moms Shopping Saga
We co slept for first three months and it was a life saver..husband had to sleep on the floor so that ended pretty quickly but first 3-4 months, it's a peace of mind and convenient. But you know do whatever you feel comfortable with and that's all.

Gtg (and anyone else who frequently shops at Gymboree),do you guys get any coupons etc (email or regular mail)??I have heard people say that they get amazing deals there when they use their certain amount off coupons, but I never get anything...:(.It will be nice to save some $$ ..!!
Wendy...I love that red coat you got from Target.I got an off white one from there last year for $14 and it is so cute.Good thing they did not her size at that time and I had to get a bigger size.I can use it well this year too.
Those in the US,do try Marshals/TJ MAxx too.Start of every season they have tons of stuff for great prices.A few weeks ago I got some clothes for my toddler for the upcoming fall and the prices are good too...!!

the ones in the malls here... just terrible stuff, gtg :/
Re: New Moms Shopping Saga
^ come down, we will go t the outlet together!!!
Chippy..you get $25 off coupon for every 50 that you spend for your next purchase.. They didn't let you use those coupons at the outlet but now they do since for us outlet is closer than the regular store! Oh and also, there are fixed dates to use those coupons so honestly I never ad a chance to use them but I have passed them on to fiends who were able to use them online of store!
But I usually go there at the end of season too and they have everything 13.99 or under sales..I love those!! Last year I bought 4-5 sweaters for 13.99 n their original price willbe something like 28, 29!!! N like sic said I love their stuff for girls..I buy as much for E as I do for A when I'm out there :D
Re: New Moms Shopping Saga
I think those are called the gymbucks...??...Right...??
I have NEVER been to a Gymboree outlet..now how sad is that...:(
For some reason their coupons have never reached me and never made sense to me.
I was there a month ago and got some summer dresses for her.Nice price but they will fit her in 2 years I think...:D
Re: New Moms Shopping Saga
aww this all is so cute. And I always thought shopping options are so limited for boys ![]()
Re: New Moms Shopping Saga
I loved this one!! I dont have much space in my room to have a coo-sleeper but I think this would be just great. And I ind it handy as well to take anywhere I want to. Best of all, my mom liked it too :@:
