Residents allege dozens of civilians killed in Waziristan action - DAWN.COM

Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed

Whole machinery of PML(N) government is silent on this very crucial issue, who were very vocal for negotiations. N$, $$ and Chaudhary Nisar etc. are silent. Ch Nisar has time to issue stupid statements and interfering in other country's matter regarding hanging of just one person. Here he does not have time to utter just one sentence on 70 killings in his own country. Why? Are N$ and his chamchas playing double game here? Speak up you leaders and chamchas of Andher Nagri Chopat Raja!

And IK is also silent on killings of these 'ghairat mand' by its own army. Why? He should come out with clear statement whether he supports this onslaught or condemn it. His silence means he is supporting the army action against these "maut ke saudagar" aka "ghairat mand" of the tribal area.

Opposition is also silent on this issue. They all should come up with joint statement to approve or disapprove this action. If disapprove this action should be stopped immediately. If approved, clean the garbage which has now fermented since eighties.

Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed

This seems to be a collateral damage. Any innocent life killed in this action can not be condoned. KP government should act immediately and send food and medical supplies with doctors immediately. This is the main difference between targeted drone strike and ground strike by the army. IK should be happy now that drone strikes have been stopped for the time being.

Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed

Damned if you do, damned if you don't!

If all the usual critical voices are surprisingly silent on this then it probably means that civilian authorities and the army have reached a good understanding and agreement on this issue (or just this particular offensive). Perhaps they were all aware of it before hand? Before anyone gets all excited and carried away and lambasting politicians for not giving any silly statements for a show, it was also an army's job to come clear that they will keep using the force despite openly supporting the illusive negotiations.

Right now, Imran's giving a speech at some Christmas event in Pakistan (sorry Mullah brigade) and passionately talking about Namal University, social justice and tax reforms. But hey these issues are non issues, Immy must say something really silly and repetitive on foreign policy otherwise this forum will go out of business and some members will lose the real purpose of their lives....just thinking about it is making me sad.

Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed

Imran should keep quiet now. Let the government go for a full fleged operation in NWA if they thing it would solve our terrorism problem. There will be a collateral damage as a result which will have a blow back. Let the state and army deal with the mess they have created.

Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed

He is quiet about it (for now). He found a new issue to protest about. This time its the inflation & funny thing is he is protesting about in Punjab. Why not in KPK that PTI runs?

Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed

Can some nirala answer the above question?

Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed

Not really, I don't agree with you. This is the most serious problem in Pakistan. If they have decided in favor of this operation, they should come out in public as one nation. No one will condemn them on agreeing on the most crucial decision. Not speaking the truth, or remain silent will hurt them and hurt whole nation.

Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed

One off military offensive here and there after every six to eight months of no action doesn't count as an 'operation' you or most people propagate here.

Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed

I think you are right. Action against mufsideen should be a continuous effort.

Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed

Read post #1 and news item attached. It is an operation with full offensive action.

And who was stopping last bikau govt. From doing this?
Too bad army didn't hang any PM from last govt. For wasting their sacrifice in swat.

Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed

Is inflation due to provincial governments or the federal government's policies? We have seen what PMLN has done with the economy GST increase 15 to 17 %, astronomical rise in electricity and fuel prices, more than 800 billion rupees printed and depletion of foreign currency reserves.

Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed

^^^ What do you think the protests will do? Bring down the inflation/prices? People voted for NS & not IK to run the federal government. What is he protesting about? Elections are over PTI has been given chance to run a province & that is what IK and PTI should be focusing on.

Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed

So what should opposition do? Sit idle while the federal government grinds people? By the way are protests disallowed in democracies?

Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed

In the democracy where one party is PTI :p

Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed

Isn't he member of the Parliament? If he has ideas he should work with other parties to make desired changes. In most established democracies decision are made in forums like parliaments, but that does not get you on tv. PTI is a protest party. First, it was the CJs issue, next it was drones, now inflation. Tomorrow it will be something...negative politics do more harm than good.

Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed

I hope the day comes when the parliament actually takes into consideration the public (which voted them in) while formulating policies. Importance of the parliament can be gauged from the fact that half of Sharif Family is running the country.

Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed

Why are you PTI people so thin skin? Criticism is also part of democracy & constructive criticism should be welcome. When people run for elected office they open themselves up for public scrutiny.

Non-taxpaying MNAs are in all the major parties. The PML-N has the lion’s share with 54 such MNAs. PTI follows with 19 non-taxpaying MNAs. The PPPP has 13, JUI-F seven and MQM five. The PkMAP and JI have three each. The AAPML, PML, ANP and NP have one each MNA in this category. As many as 15 non-taxpayer MNAs won as independent candidates.

Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed

Look, if that's true then it is a grave error. But the point is, if it's our people doing it they can change tactics. They can be held accountable. This is infinitely better than drones taking out civilian after civilian, and them being labeled as "militants" because they were male, or in a pick-up truck, or carrying a tool that could be taken as a weapon...whatever absurd criteria is used to justify their targeting by foreign forces who don't care whom they are killing.
