Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed
I don't know how people want to purge the country of terrorists. Whenever there is a bullet or a shell fired, there will always be a chance that some civilian may accidentally be killed instead of the desired target. One must realize that war is hell, and civilian casualties cannot be totally avoided.
Lame. Next time terrorist blow up a bunch of civilians, may we throw this "war is hell" diddy back at you? It's a simple minded thing to say, and mind you many people here support the action exactly because of attacks on civilians. It's a line you don't cross...and if there is any evidence that the Pak military had not taken reasonable measures to vacate civilians and/or avoid civilian casualties, then it's no better than a terrorist outfit plain and simple. However, it's a professional force, so we hope for the best.
I suggest those who adopt this attitude do so because nobody they care about is in the line of fire. So spare us these cliches.
Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed
Wow...reading the article it seems like the army is lazily lobbing shells in a particular village. Reading the comments, it's like the army has launched a full scale offensive against the taliban. Some here have difficulty comprehending the situation...and I do admit it may well be me.
If this was a botched raid or counter offensive, the officers in charge should be held accountable.
Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed
why were they militants.. and who labelled them "militants"... post-humous.. it is shameful that we are following the exact footsteps and committing the very same warcrimes that the Russians do in Chechnya or Indians do in Kashmir or what America has been doing for more than 23 years in Iraq and now for more than 13 years on in Afghanistan..
Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed
Isn't he member of the Parliament? If he has ideas he should work with other parties to make desired changes. In **most established democracies **decision are made in forums like parliaments, but that does not get you on tv. PTI is a protest party. First, it was the CJs issue, next it was drones, now inflation. Tomorrow it will be something...negative politics do more harm than good.
There you go, answered your own silly little question. Pakistan isn't an established democracy. Got it? I wonder if you even know what the real democracy really looks like considering you have zero tolerance for difference of opinion and policies. It's not IK or PTI's fault that parliament sessions aren't given due coverage in the media. Democracy allows you to protest, disagree and have a voice of oppositon and concern. Imran likes to do issue based politics and he's actually very good at it, full marks to him. It's you who need to start educating youself on how the democracy works and just stop protesting to bring down someone else's right to protest in a democracy.
Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed
Only if you can stick to the topic and not run around trying to drag PTI one way or the other and then “criticize” it, I might join you in its criticism for a particular issue when that is the topic of discussion.
Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed
^^^ They (terrorists) attacked army post and killed 5 soldiers & army retaliated. There is nothing shameful about killing enemies of the state.
this is the version of the ISPR press release. not the facts on the ground.. because the army prevents any independent journalist to see first hand the massacres carried out in the name of American "War on Terror"..
sometimes only "embedded" journalists are allowed like talat hussain or imran khan (not the politician).. who act like soldiers without rank or uniform.. saying "yes sir" to every "opinion" and "version" blurted out by the military.

What about foreign media? It has not reported any major innocent civilian casualties.
Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed
journalist can go to Afghanistan and Iraq (non embedded)... like Jeremy Scahill, Jerome Starkey etc and document the American military's war crimes but no one can go and "verify" the government or the military's claim of "terrorists" being killed there... shame on army and government which calls it self "Islamic".
Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed
^ Please explain your version of on-ground reality. How are the talibans and other militant groups innocent who have made life hell for innocent citizens of this country. They call themselves Islamic yet there is nothing Islamic about their actions. So please, enlighten us as how are they good guys?

people like you always try to hide the real picture... i am just saying that pakistani media and newspapers never actually do anything close to "investigative" journalism... the only know the type of journalistic art called "yellow journalism" and merely function as "spokesperson" for the government and military and their only purpose if to "salute the generals" and say "sir! yes sir!" and then they make headlines out of military press releases and want the stupid people to believe those as "facts"...
i dont see anyone of them even picking up a phone and calling people who have been affected.. they dont care what is really happening there.. they couldnt care less... (and idea of actually go to the site of these killings and documenting evidences and talking to eyewitnesses .. people like hamid mir, shahid masood, talat hussain, kamran khan, ansar abassi would NEVER do such things.. because that is NOT what they have been taught and nor to they get "paid" for serious independent journalistic reporting)...
“I want to make it clear to the government that North Waziristan is not like of South Waziristan, Buner and Swat and if it (government) doesn’t stop military operation there, then the military is bound to suffer a disastrous failure and thus, harming national interest,” Mr Hassan told participants of a condolence reference here.
The reference was held in the memory of JI leader Younas Khattak, who had died of cardiac arrest the other day.
The JI chief said the government had launched the North Waziristan offensive to please the US though it was against the national interest.
He said no military operation carried in the country since its creation had produced desirable results.
Re: N. Waziristan clashes: Troops pound militant hideouts, 40 killed
I guess the TTP suicide attack was to appease the US as well, and considering the chawal Munawwar called mehsud a shaheed, it means that he is the appeaser chawal in chief.

why was my response to "islamofascism" deleted... and these liberals are supposedly fighting for "freedom",, but they hate freedom of speech because they can;t afford to face the truth or the other side of the story.. they just come to forums to "impose" their world-view on everyone..

I asked you about your version of truth and you said everything except the answer to my query. Pls give a concise and precise view of reality as you see it. and cut the fluff.
