Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab
Both situations deal with a group dehumanizing another. That is what is going on here. I’m not seriously trying to justify the sh*t people throw against the Muslim community in the US, but to point out similarities in what happens when an innocent group is dehumanized with the use of stupid arguments.
Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab
Yes that hat was not what I said because one cannot say everything. But I am saying that now.
I will also add, with the election of Modi, the same type of bigotry can be used against Hindus. Who voted into power a bigoted person. The same Hindus come to the west and clamor for equal rights. They don’t deserve it. And the same bigotry can be used against Hindus by other similar bigots in the west.
Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab
Southie ur getting it twisted man. 99% of Muslims abroad, including myself and my muslim friends, are pro-lgbt. Just because you had one bad experience with someone does not mean all Muslims are like that
Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab
I dont know if you can see the problem here but i’ll try to point out.
In this post you have just generalized Hindus. Like you have generalized muslims so many times.
The hindu who uses bigotry in India can be entirely different than the hindu who came to US. So why the one in US doesnt deserve it? Just because his fellow hindu is showing bigotry? What kinda fairness is this? To me it looks like one extreme mind conclusion who has decided to deprive one from his rights just because his fellow member did something wrong.
All fingers arent equal. But they are still a part of hand. All hindus arent equal. Same goes for other religions and since the topic is based on muslims, they too.
Those who claim that LGBT community should be subdued are wrong but thats their perspective. That being said, you just cant judge entire community on the based of few. Thats what @aqua70 said too and in reply you said thats not being done. But if you ask most of the readers, thats the impression your words are leaving.
Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab
Again I write one thing you interpret another.
I am am saying the SAME Hindus who voted Modi into power deserve whatever comes their way in the west.
And I am also saying this type of stupid bigotry can (not should) easily be used by other words g or ant and bigoted people against Hindus. I am not saying they SHOULD use it. But it can be used.
Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab
Let’s see here. You made an entire thread about someone’s remarks regarding lgbt community who is not even American, to ask American muslims about minority rights, tell me how is this connected? Where is your comprehension in all this?
Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab
Read slowly this time. I simply stated THOSE who are bigoted (in this instance against LGBTQ) do not deserve to be treated equally. This does NOT apply to you.
Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab
I also agreed with isaid… that such Bigotry can be used against the Muslim community by similarly bigoted people. Hence in this instance the Muslim community needs to condemn such bigotry.
I note that in the other thread not one person condemned this statement. So there.
Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab
So a comment made by someone in the East, needs to be condemned by Muslims in the west, otherwise their rights could be taken away from them to teach them a lesson? Seriously??? That is literally your entire argument.
Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab
Let me borrow the example from one of your earlier posts regarding misconceptions that existed about race that certain races were predisposed for being more/less intelligent, disciplined, family-oriented, honest, etc. And factors such as upbringing, neighborhood, schools, family, friends, parent income levels, basically the cultural environment in which they grew up and matured didn’t mattered. They failed to prove that because those factors did changed outcomes.
Same is the case with those who claim homosexuals are born that way with a predisposition and it is not a learned behavior. I won’t be able to explain everything here but read about those rebuttals if interested.
Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab
O bhai, lets take the “same” hindu. Not anyone else. They still deserve the rights so they can be persuaded to stop bigotry. And you clearly said they dont deserve it, unless you take a turn from this as well.
And thats the difference between what a lot many here are saying and what you and ISWIS are saying. Dont you think you are suggesting an extreme solution of its own kind?
Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab
I’m not going to cosign every single thing that Southie said, but damn you people really are feeling some type of way huh.
What I am saying is not that the entire Muslim community in America deserves x and y happening to them because of homophobic Muslims. It is literally addressed towards bigoted ones (e.g. in this case homophobes). That the same flawed logic they use against another group can easily be utilized against Muslims as a group. It is not* justifying* or making a case for anything. It is acknowledging reality.
Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab
I am sorry I can’t help you with comprehension. You need to work on it.
I will, repeat. Read this slowly. And comprehend. When some Muslims are bigoted, THose Muslims cannot expect equal treatment. And those around them should realize that others too can be bigoted (not should be, but can be bigoted).
So so each of us has an obligation to fight bigotry when we see it.
And yes, I didn’t see anyone objecting to the bigoted statement in that thread. So maybe this hits home with you. And you are getting a tad defensive? And so go around using words such as projecting?
Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab
This. I understood what you said the first time. Not sure why others find it so hard to understand this.
You write much better than I do. I can understand why some may be confused by my comments. But your comment is crystal clear. And in my own clumsy way, I agreed with your earlier comment which essentially stated this.
Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab
Inhave taken no turn - sorry you feel that way. Coming back to the remaining part of your post - the Hindus who voted for a bigot - if they are discriminated against, I would say what goes around comes around. Will I support bigotry against them? Of course not. They they lost the right to expect equality when by their actions they have voted in a person who is bigoted. I will, still fight for their equal rights. But I would not have any empathy for them. Serves you right is what I would be thinking.
And by the way a lot here are NOT saying that. They (and you were) are saying why are you Generalizing against all other Muslims. To which I said I wasn’t! But I give up.
