Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab

Two Muslim women who were forced to take off their hijab by the police when arrested have filed a lawsuit. And rightly so.

In a recent thread in this forum, one poster stated those who supported LGBT rights are disgusting, since those rights are against Islam.

Question is - do those who espouse such bigoted views have a leg to stand on when their rights are violated? Needless to say, this question applies only to those who find giving equal rights to LGBT folks disgusting.

Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab

i think the question could be asked without giving reference to this incident. If you ask those two women from NY they'll tell you how bigger advocate of LGBT rights they are, rightly so.

Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab

So much hurt feelings from one thread damn

Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab

Not sure I understand what you are saying. By “this incident” if you are referring to the comment in the other thread on LGBT, I respectfully disagree. It is a fair point to bring up. If a person, not hypothetical person, but a person right here feels supporting LGBT rights is disgusting, does that person deserve equal rights when his or her rights are violated as in this news report.

This thread made no asssumprions re whether the two ladies from NY were or against LGBT rights. This thread is about those who would deny others rights. If they deserve equal rights themselves.

Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab

No hurt feelings. Just a teaching moment! Happened to come across the article and HuffPost. And was reminded of the bigoted comment.

Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab

Why are you singling out Muslims. Lot of other religions are anti-lgbt like Christian Hindu Sikhs Jews.

Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab

I totally agree. This comment happened to be made by a member here who happens to be a Muslim. Am simply pointing out those who deny rights to others cannot expect their rights to be taken.

If a Hindu here had stated that those who uphold rights of LGBT or Muslims are disgusting, I would say the same thing. Live and let live.

Also, as Instated twice. This post does not concern Muslims. It concerns only those who consider denying rights of s community, and pay community disgusting. The vast majority of the members here do not have such views.

Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab

Even if we put the religious aspect aside, encouraging/promoting LGBT lifestyle is an absolute disservice to humanity. Study after study in US shows how LGBT people are far more likely to suffer from loneliness, depression, STDs, poverty and suicide. In Russia they have strong laws to discourage any promotion of such lifestyles. Without loads of money such folks have extremely empty lives, that is what I have observed personally. On the other hand, in rich countries like Sweden, where children are introduced to these lifestyles very early on, the number of children wanting to become opposite sex is doubling every year. Many psychologists have suggested that since children have fragile minds and love to role play, like playing with dolls and all that stuff so such promotion wreaks their personalities.

Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab

Ah yes. All those things are totally inherently a part of being LGBT. It's not like there has been loads of homophobia for the longest time that would make people who are LGBT depressed and want to kill themselves. It's not like parents disowning their LGBT kids would contribute to that. Great analysis of statistics you have there.

Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab

As a child I used to watch ThunderCats and Manimal which made me realize that I was a Black panther. I would even drink water by lapping it up off the floor. Although lack of claws, paws and fur disappointed me at times. But my biggest disappointment were the people around who won’t validate my true identity and continued to treat me as a human. I eventually grew out of that fantasy.

Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab

So...you are comparing your childhood fantasies to someone being gay or lesbian?

Great logic strikes again.

Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab

It's no use arguing with her man chor do

Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab

Childhood fantasies do play a role later in life if reinforced by people around.

Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab

I know.

Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab

Yes....and sexuality is not a childhood fantasy. So this was a dumb comparison

Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab

Indeed. Nor is being a Black panther.

Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab

So is going in circles like this how you deal with your poor statistical analysis skills and general flawed outlook?

Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab

Until 1973 even the American Psychiatric Association called that a mental disorder. Due to intense political pressure they dropped that classification, yet nearly 40% of psychiatrics at the time disagreed.

Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab

Lmao at you bringing up this little factoid forgetting the fact that prejudice had a lot to do why it was classified as such

Lmao at you bringing up the "nearly 40%" stat as if it was a majority

Re: Muslim women file a lawsuit for being forced to take off hijab

Sorry for derailing the thread Southie. You know what it is with these types of log.
