Memon Hospital at Aliabad, Karachi is a place where middle class people can find good quality medical services at affordable price. This is a very busy hospital.
The problem with the middle class is that neither they can afford the services such as Aga Khan or other hospital nor they can submit Zakat declaration to get cheaper services at some of the hospitals.

Dossanis are memon. One of their girls was acting some while back. I think she was in the really famous play Jaal (right before the media boom).

Again, ismaili is a religious sect while memon is an ethnicity. You can have ismaili memons, sunni memons, shia memons, scientologist memons and so on and so forth.

Well memons are only sunnies! Majority of them are braelvies sunnies but with quick conversion to deboandies these days.

The memons speak a different language and Aga Khanies' gujrati is different from bohries and other sunnies gujrati.

I don't see a problem with asking about Memons. I'm a memon and I feel sidelined sometimes with our culture - there is so much emphasis on Urdu-speaking people, and even more so on Punjabis. Its nice to see that people are curious about other groups in Pakistan. There are so many ethnicities, and I'd like to learn more about them myself. If someone has questions about Memons, I don't see the harm in asking - generates understanding.
No one here has been offensive. Yes, people have misunderstandings, and they don't necessarily agree with how Memons live and our ways, but they don't have to. As long as they're polite enough to ask to clarify their misunderstandings.

Hehe I think it only happens in people who are confused about their religion. I am alarmed by the spread of deobandiism in karachi. I guess people are too naive to see the real picture.. :)

here's a question: who is better off financially, memons or aga khanis? and who has done more for karachi and in Pakistan in general? I know it doesn't matter since the bottom line is Pakistan is better off because of the two communities but just for the sake of trivial pursuit.

I might incline to say that aga khanis, but maybe it is because they are more known that the memons.
PS I was surprised to learn that you have to pay money to go see Aga Khan. This desi bazar owner couple of miles here suddenly disappeared a couple of months ago and we found out he had went to Canada to asheerbad from the Prince..
Btw, is it you that is shiite? I heard that the main twelvers really hate them! This is why iran severely limits / prosecutes aga khanis there..
