Memons

Re: Memons

oo, touchy. Don't pose instigating questions, if you can't handle the criticism.

Re: Memons

BTW, its precisely reasons like Anil Khan that memons don't care to divulge how much they have - no reason to get nosy people aroused by money issues.

So, for the sake of argument, let me go ahead and nip this in the bud for you my inquisitive little friend: Aga Khanis have a much bigger money network, and are way more organized about how they utilize their money as a community compared to memons. There are memon organizations that do charity work, but there is no central fund, as you'll find with the Aga Khani community. Also, there is a big difference in the groups. Aga Khanis are a religious and ethnic group. Memons are simply an ethnic group. We don't have a common religious leader or mosques or religious events where we donate money to a central source. As a memon, I can donate my funds to a memon organization or a non-memon organization; most memon families will not strictly limit their donations to memon charity funds.

Re: Memons

It was not instigation. It was simple question that appeared based on the intial group that was the subject and a later group that was mentioned by one of the other members. Both communities are well known in Karachi and I wanted to get a consensus of what others on the board thought. Simple.

Re: Memons

Did I ask you, hey PCG how much do you have? What is your bank balance? uhhh, NO. It was a general question that I posed, nothing intimate or personal was asked of you or any other memon on this board.

Thank you for your opinion on the question.

Other opinions i await.

Re: Memons

y'know one school of thought is as follows: The last few days you feel all high and mighty about how memons are involved in charity works, hospitals for middle class folks, rich dubai business tycoons etc, etc. Now, when a community is mentioned that - as you accept - is more powerful than yours and you get your pannies in a knot and feel jealous; hence your dissent at the question.

Am I right on?

I believe so :).

Re: Memons

^ The problem I have is not with Aga Khanis. They are a very powerful community and like I've mentioned, much more monetarily organized than memons.

The problem I have is that you DELIBERATELY wanted to take the discussion in an angle to create conflicts. Its obvious that you are not happy with the positives being mentioned in the thread about Memons and the attempts to wipe away the sterotype of the rich cheap miser, and are hell bent on showing down the memon community.

I don't have a problem with Aga Khanis. I think they've done an amazing job at transforming Pakistan, things that your average Sunni Pakistani could not do. And mind you, Aga khanis are quite abused for their religious beliefs in Pakistan. Despite all they do, they're still disrespected. And you've just further disrespected them and the memons by trying to get people to pick between the two communities.

This is not some childish competition about who is better than whom. Its about appreciating what the various communities in Paksitan are doing and wiping away stereotypes. Lets stick to that.

Re: Memons

Majority of this post is heresay. I have not even given an opinion on the memons. Please paste one of my posts where i 'show down the memon community'.

As hard as it may be for u to believe, I could care less which community of the two is better off; like i mentioned earlier, the question just came in my mind once the two communities came in my mind in the same thought.
As long is Pakistan is flourishing and getting better, more power to BOTH OF THESE groups.

Re: Memons

If you don't care which community is better, then why ask? Clearly, you do care.

If you truly meant something else, then revisit how you posed your question. Its very clear what you were asking.

Re: Memons

I am a memon and I can't save.

Re: Memons

Then you must be a naqli memon like when you ask a quetta pathan, he will tell you peshawar ka naqli pathan.. :tomato:
