I agree with this, but we need to keep in mind that there is already a strong sense of alienation among the smaller provinces. Anyways, we will have to wait and see how things pan out.
Doesn't mean you shouldn't do any project in a province where 62% of the population lives..
They have wasted some 100 billion in Pindi Jangla Bus , A metro for Pindi-Islamabad more than 100 KM could be completed in this cost . This was just cruel to made this huge structure on thin & narrow , the only main road of Rawalpindi . Karachi is also in great need of a metro but the already existing local railway is not working even .
Doesn't mean you shouldn't do any project in a province where 62% of the population lives..
Doesn't mean the federal govt. should do projects in smaller cities while neglecting bigger cities which are in dire needs.
Doesn't mean you should overlook the province/city which generates majority of federal government's revenue. Be it 70% or less.
If government makes most money from a place then that place has the first right to get an uplift without which it is coming down to its knees.
It is not right when Karachi, the biggest city, and the most rapidly populating city, has neither circular railway nor metro. The city is so desperate that it is now relying on those insects people call Chinchi to solve some its traffic woes.
Yet the federal government is focussing on spending billions to solve far smaller problem in a much smaller city.
If that does not reek prejudice then I don't know what would.

Don't start this BS of 70% revenue again.. This myth has been busted upteen times right here.. I don't even have the stamina to do it once more. Revenue contribution is according to GDP of provinces..just go and check GDP contribution of all the provinces.

The rest also didn't make any sense.. Therefore no need of reply. We can't do anything about your hatred. We support your demand for Metro in Karachi.. The rest of your mumblings just expose your hate..

Shouldn't you be asking this question to the parties that who rule Karachi? But wait, they're too busy calling for complete shutter down strike on weekly basis. Yes indeed, this is how 'Pakistani largest City and economic hub' is abused by those who fight gun with gun to become it's caretakers.

Is that all you could pick from that post? Great.
BTW, I said "majority" of revenue. Be it 70% "or less".
I don't want to get bogged down in that debate. Just one thing. If you talk of GDP then don't just compare provinces but also compare cities. If Sindh generates 30% of GDP and Karachi generates 25% of that, then it is 1/4 of the total Pakistan GDP.
Such a city does not deserve illegal insects to solve its transport problems. It deserves better. And prejudice oozes out of those who support to spend money on solving smaller problems of other smaller cities.

Federal government gives fundings for large projects. A city government, which does not even exist in karachi, can not do it on its own.

Demand this share from Sindh government then who get share from Federal resources according to the formula set in the constitution..
Agreed. Karachi needs massive infrastructure. It deserves better.
JICA already committed funding to Sindh Government for KCR. The infighting between PPP, MQM and land mafias won't let it go ahead. Each of them wants its share while continuously blaming Punjab government for everything.
Meanwhile, you get roads named after daughter of the don.

So you think it is ok for the Feds to spend the federal money on metro project in a smaller city, even though the Feds get more money from another city which is reeling due to lack of such projects?
It is not possible that federal government doesn't get involved in it, and keep it a provincial project.

Can you substantiate your claim? Federal government receives very little funding from joint pool after 18th amendment.
Meanwhile, you can trace the funding to Karachi projects to a place Edgeware in UK.
Funding for KCR is approved. The feasibility is there. The plans are there. Haram khori kam karain tau kuch ho ga na.

There was even more displacement of people, MQM's own voters, when Mustafa Kamal went ahead with carving out roads.

If feds can invest 1,000 billions on Karachi roads.. They can invest 40 billion on Lahore Metro (25% of the project cost)
As far as revenue is concerned which you continue to brag.. 90% of federal revenues in Pakistan are result of indirect taxation. If my tax contribution is collected in Karachi due to port.. Doesn't mean I'll give up my rightful share from the tax I have contributed as Sales Tax, custom duties etc. yhe tax contribution is directly proportional to consumption and GDP.. Doesn't matter where they are collected.. They are actually contributed by consumers..
QAS is not as aggressive as SS. Perhaps it is the requirement of the duties of CM Sindh. I wonder what change can it bring if we switch CMs? Perhaps SS may not survive a single day as CM Sindh as compared to QAS as CM Punjab would still be ruling successfully.:)
Karachi and Lahore are two different urban cities in a sense that Lahore has homogenous crowd, where as Karachi "main ghaat ghaat ki muli rehti hay" with different kind of thinking regarding how they perceive urban vs rural population. For many decades Karachi has become safe haven for criminals. Managing Lahore is much much easier than managing Karachi due to above reasons.

Karachi should take a cue from Rio on how to take back the city from gangs and terrorists.
