That’s not what the question was about. It was if you would (hypothetically) marry an unmarried girl who begs you to marry her. So I didn’t rule out the possibility.

I met this acquaintance and we were sharing guy/girl rishta/relationship stories and he had a story on this scenario.

He and his ex were together for almost 3 years and she wanted marriage - he wasn't ready and kept putting her off. Finally, she gave him an ultimatum marry me or I walk (there were a lot of tears, a lot of drama and to hear him say it she was begging). Anyhow, he said no - she walked and turned around and married a rishta her parents arranged for her within 4 months. Two months later she was pregnant.

On one hand you'd think she lost face because she was begging him to make the final committment - but at the end of the day he came out the loser since he has yet to get over it - didn't recognize her for the gem she was and now no other girl will measure up...

Just one thing i don't understand in this narrative, how is the getting pregnant related?

When girl meets boy - they want to get to know each other. They are not going to propose on first meet.

So how does a girl know that he was not interested in the first place - if he is still dating her ?

This actually happened with me unfortunately.

I went out with this girl from Morocco for about a year and at the end she was continuously pleading with me to get married -- I had told her since day one I wouldnt be able to marry her because I would be marrying a Pakistani girl thorugh an arranged marraige and that would not change....she was aware of this and was cool with it....then at the end all hell broke lose...lots of drama, tears, threats of killing herself and what not....it was pretty screwed up...almost like a Bollywood movie....

Anyway, point being...No. I wouldnt. Not just because the person is pleading or 'begging'...but more because you should never have to go that far to find a partner. If you're seriously that keen to get married because 'time is running out' or whatever....then you have issues.

Okay i would go out with a grl if I didn't feel that this relationship will go somewhere and that we'll end up together ... coming back to the question if it comes to a point where the grl is begging me to marry her i wld feel beyond pathetic myself that i took the grl to a point where she has to beg me to marry her and ofcourse i'll marry her thats why i was with her in the first place.

I think some people took "begging" as a literal act. It simply meant if a girl asks you or insists to marry her . Surely "literalism is a playpen". :)
