Already understood the two sides of the argument, thanks. But I'm asking how does that mean that the naive lot are "siding with their own" when you agree that this was never about one community vs another?
I think he means simply that the issue isn't about religion, another words, Hindu religion vs Muslim religion. Its about the majority community vs the minority community. The "naive" side with their own community.
^ correct. It is not a clash of one specific religion vs. Another. It was a difference of opinion between those who could see the situation from minority POV vs those who could only see the majority POV. The 1st side had representation from all communities - some from majority Muslim community - some from minority community - some Hindus. The 2 nd side consisted of mainly those from majority community.
My post re: reflexively siding with ones own community was directed at an old nemesis and a current dost - the great diwana - who does reflexively side with his own community - the majority. While I do marvel at his consistency, I question the credibility of his positions when it comes to sectarian and social issues.
Anyway, I get it, it's a humongous deal. No sarcasm intended.
I think this is the first time in recent years that such an issue has been scandalised so pardon me for being naive about the whole thing. Allah Pakistan mein sub ko apni amaan mein rakhe bus yahi dua hai.
In this thread - by not being sensitive to how minorities might feel about this televised conversion, you did choose a side - albeit by default. Some went over the top - stating such events are good, we are all born Muslims, this will encourage more conversions etc.
There is no side to it. A simple show on free will conversion is made a huge deal.
It was made by those who felt bad on conversion of this man and started using minority threats as a reason to criticize.
Funny how the so called champions of 'freedom to chose a religion', now jumping up and down using these tactics to demonize the anchor and the show content.

By the way, how can you be certain it wasn't forced. If you watch that video, the kid doesn't look all that enthusiastic. Maybe he is shy, but what part of the video tells you he wasn't simply saying what he was coerced into saying?
Maybe there is someone in his area threatening him if he doesn't convert?
Im a champion of "freedom to choose a religion" where i know there isn't a history of bigotry, violence, and coercion.
If thousands of Jews in Nazi germany had suddenly declared they were no longer Jewish at the height of the Anti Jewish sentiment in Germany, you would support that as well?

lol
You do know now you are ranting at extreme? Probably you are not aware how desperate you sound here.
Maybe, probably, possibly, if or whatever added to any sentence does not make any valid argument.
You are free to imagine the scenario of your liking however. ;)
Chintu said something which is now removed. Very truthful from his heart and the very essence why the criticism has been directed to the TV show. Nothing more, nothing less.
Wish Mods would have kept it with 'some stars added to that sentence', to show the real reason.

Im just asking you a simple question. I gave up ranting, because its pointless with you.
nOW Everyone is assuming he converted by choice. I saw the video and he looks like he is scared. He seems hesitant. Those beards look to be intimidating him.
What makes you so sure this kid isn't being forced to say he is converting by choice? Simple question.
