I had the displeasure and an unfortunate experience of picking Emirates for my recent long journey that had a layover in Dubai Airport going from the US and returning back.
the return trip had a 14 hr layover in this inhospitable Airport called Dubai. This Middle East Airline which is run by all foreigners none from Dubai have no consideration for the comfort their passengers during flights and while on layover at their home base.
All other Airlines I have traveled with always provide a Hotel Room for passengers who spend more than 12 hrs between trips.
Not Emirates, the guy at the service desk had a great big smile but no room, was not aware of any rule addressing the comfort of their passengers.
Even on board during the long flights 14+ hours the staff totally ignores the call button lights overhead, they walk on by as if these lights do not exist.
My recommendation**…do not take Emir Rats Airline!**
did you not know about the extra long layover in in Dubai?o
we have the same problem flying to Kolkata. Emirates had told me before i booked my flights that ONLY certain economy class fares qualify for hotel accommodation in Dubai for 24 hrs and those fares are higher than what we get online.
i think you should have checked with the airline at the time of booking the flights and shouldn't have assumed a provision of hotel room at their expense.
however, if you asked for the airline's 'prefered' rate with hotel, you would have got it which would have saved you 40-50% of the normal rate.
I have never seen any airline offering hotel for a planned layover?
fortunately yes, Emirates does offer 'free hotel' on connections longer than 8 hours IF you buy a higher economy class fare.
You should be the host of all guppies laying over Dubai :p
good idea! i KNOW SID will be the first guppy to take advantage of this opportunity. :) mubaarak ho Dubai kaa layover. :D
Surprising that OP did not know about this BEFORE buying the ticket? Seems like your booking agent misled you.
Next time, fly PIA
Exactly, my best experiences have always been with good ole PIA, this same year I travelled to Islamabad the layover was in Lahore... without asking they took us (and there was a busload of us transit passengers) to a hotel with excellent meals and comfy rooms!
