Beautifully written... and very interesting...!!
I dont know if sanam is always choosing same roles or about her acting capabilities in other roles but here... for sure she is making her presence very much felt!! It somehow reminds me of our old ptv dramas that use to be interesting and much real...
Looking forward to the next episode!! And well, thanks to Umera Ahmed for a such a nice script !!
Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed
I think she's doing a really good job of us not liking her by playing the pitiful working woman/mother. She wants everyone to feel sorry for her because she has a really tough life and nobody else does :D
how exactly does she has a tough life? from what i cud make out of it, she was working at her own will. so mite as well not blame anybody else for the tough life.
Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed

I think the 'tough life' just comes from her not being appreciated by anyone. Especially her husband. I don't think she minds doing the work and all that...it's just how she's treated.

well no it is related...due 2 her job and being overworked, she has mood swings n lack of energy to fulfil her duties towards her family which in return causes the friction between them.
Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed
Haven't seen any of it? Should I? What episodes can I skip?
Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed
I have stopped watching this one for now. And not because I don't like it, in fact I like it too much and I hate the whole waiting thing for a week. So I am going to watch it from the beginning once its done :D This is the type of drama that one needs to watch in one sitting..haha..like those long-plays that used to come on PTV back in the days.
Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed
go for it passionate , no need to skip any episode
Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed
I started this play and do not know if the characters are intended as such or there is some lapse in direction but the first episode was very judgmental. So all of Shandana's marital and parental woes stem from her decision to work? and Hyder is all good even if it means behaving like an A--hole like not even bothering to pay his wife's parents an annual visit.
And its not just working women whose children "hate" them as Sophie is repeatedly made to say, women who are full time home makers get a lot of flak from their children and husbands and always have. Whether she wants to work or stay home is entirely a woman's choice. i know a lot of so called "housewives" who spend more time in salons and malls than around teh house and working women who balance their work and family life better than the former. Either ways there should be no generalizations. God knows we've grown up on stories of one too many working women ending up with much deserved broken homes, families etc and TV dramas could do with one less such stereotype.
Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed
^ showing working women in a negative light is also an aspect I don't like about this story. The assumption is that because she works, she demands appreciation from her husband which if she didn't work, somehow she wouldn't need.
The three individual stories are interesting in their own right, but the flashback aspect is a bit annoying. Great acting by Sameena Peerzada and Nadia Jameel. Sanam's acting is good too, but I think because we are seeing her in every other drama, the excitement is dwindling for the viewer.
Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed
MZZBN moved me despite its glaring faults, QET also a little bit but Ms Umera Ahmed for CRYING out loud, please stop churning out the same saas-bahu/ zalim and mazlum crap. It boring, unoriginal and pretty laugable. how about creating something positive for a change???
Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed
^ not to mention divorce in every drama ;-) My husband always asks when an Umera Ahmed play is on as to who is getting a divorce this time lol
I have also stopped watching it for now because I got tired of the young DeS and her zaalim saas's shenanigans. They need to move the story forward. I preferred the present day + flashback sequences. Staying in the 70s for whole episodes is not working for me.

you can definitely skip around because the narrative is very slow. The scenes between Mohd. Ahmed and Sanam are good. Also scenes between Samina Peerzada and Nadia Jameel.

as far as i remember they showed that she keeps asking her husband to help with the daughter but he does not and she complains about that.

may be you havent watched the rest of the episodes. They are not showing Hyder to be all good or Shandana at fault.
Shandana works and Hyder does not help at all with the daughter. He also stopped doing little things like buying flowers or doing anything for her on her request. Then she sees that her father is a perfect husband always caring and all so the resentment grows.
As for Sophie, later in Murree, she thinks her dad does not care for mom or her. the way I see it, they show that the kids get confused between parents fights.
I dont think they are showing working women have problems in the house because (as another poster remarked) a working woman is over worked and unable to fulfil her responbsibilites. Dure shawar was a stay at home wife and she faced problems and Shandana is a working wife facing problems.
Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed
I am asking the same question again.
So What you think, who is doing best acting
- Samina Perzada
- Nadia Jameel
- Sanam Baloch
In your opinion, who should get the award for best performance.
Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed
never liked her much esp her acting always seemed over the top but she is excelling in this one :k:.
Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed
as far as i remember they showed that she keeps asking her husband to help with the daughter but he does not and she complains about that.
But as a mother its her 1st duty to look after the kid and if she is failing 2 do it, then she cnt blame it on him. Yes, he is being a moron too by acting like a total jerk and running away from the issues in hand instead of dealing with them like an adult.
Two wrongs never make a right!
Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed
i cried for the majority of the last episode :(
