This is not a religious issue but rather a legal one. It is unacceptable that the Pakistani government continues to uphold such laws and expects its citizens and the world to take it seriously. It tarnishes Pakistan’s image as well as its population’s. If that is acceptable to you then we should be questioning your patriotism.

Yes you may not take it seriously because it doesn’t affect you but as already proved this law is in fact implemented and has ruined lives of innocent people. And the fact that you can conveniently say that this law is not taken seriously, only highlights the lawlessness in the country and the incompetence of the government who uphold these laws.

Also constructive criticism is not a “hate message”.

You oppose any Pakistani who takes the law seriously, or anyone who won’t. Defeats the purpose of this thread when all you wanted were losers to begin with.

This thread is about a Pakistani law. You barge in here questioning someone else’s religion on the pretext that your religion was being attacked and your beliefs were being questioned.

As far as we are concerned you’re a nobody. We haven’t seen you here before and have no reason to attack you. We don’t know what your beliefs are and I personally don’t give a ****. We have no reason to attack your beliefs. If, however, you consider any comment about some stupid law or Islam in general an attack on your beliefs, you’ll just have to learn to deal with it.

What I have on my sleeve gets told only because a number of you won’t come out of the closet and admit what your religion is.

Confessing my religion when I question yours sure adds to my credibility.

I expected better from someone attempting to portray the positive persona.

Regardless you want my views. Blasphemy legally is a violation of freedom of expressions which every single human being has a right too. As Voltaire said: “I do not agree with what you have to say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it.” That applies to all regardless of what they believe or think. So I do not agree with the Blasphemy laws.

However I do not make a distinction as you have or Bella has with regard to which nation state holds these laws. Kinda like how you said what they did 200 years ago. You do know that the blasphemy law was used in Germany and Finland in the last 10 years? So not so 200 years ago. By your example Pakistan is neck and neck with Germany and Finland not 200 years behind.

Also I am not pompous. I am confident. Yes I am that good. Or its hubris…but eh we will find out during my tragic fall.

So back to your 200 year old comment. What is your view of Blasphemy laws now that Germany and Finland have used it in the past 10 years.

when it comes to religion, what someone perceives as insulting is subjective. a lot of people cannot handle the truth of each other’s beliefs without getting upset. i could give you simple examples if you like.

Not quite. The funny thing about laws is that once imposed, it is definitive and not necessarily representative. Not all laws emit from a democratic process, but from principles that are adhered to regardless of the whims of a political constituency.
