Do you really believe that your god or religion needs blasphemy laws to protect them? IMO it shows a lack of confidence in your faith to have such trivial laws when you believe that your religion is divine and your god is the ALL MIGHTY. Why does Pakistan need blasphemy laws while other Muslim majority countries don’t?
Re: Does the ALL MIGHTY need blasphemy laws?
very true. Anyone who believes in blasphemy law seems very insecure in their faith.
Re: Does the ALL MIGHTY need blasphemy laws?
It’s not about insecurity. It’s a carefully orchestrated law to allow a state run program of religion fueled extremism and violence to intimidate masses and foreigners to keep the powerful in power.
Re: Does the ALL MIGHTY need blasphemy laws?
It becomes blasphemy when a minority like a Christian woman tries to hold up her rights. Becomes blasphemy when someone wants to marry who they want or get an education or question someone’s backward interpretation of Islam. Meanwhile blasphemy is used on the common man while politicians and army men are partying it up. Then that isn’t blasphemy using Islam’s name to stay in power while doing haram activities? At that point the mullahs won’t point fingers?
Well guess who these mullahs are workin for?
Re: Does the ALL MIGHTY need blasphemy laws?
I guess Christians have a lack of faith then. As Blasphemy laws were created in the UK and are still in effect in most colonial countries. More so they have not been revoked even though nobody uses them anymore.

Again ignorance seems to be a key factor in our liberal minded bunch.
Edit: Just so you know they have Blasphemy laws in Australia, the UK, Finland, Denmark, Germany etc.
Re: Does the ALL MIGHTY need blasphemy laws?
The United Kingdom abolished its laws against blasphemy in England and Wales in 2008

Re: Does the ALL MIGHTY need blasphemy laws?
Mashallah, you can read. Can you read the rest of the Christian countries that have Blasphemy laws in place? Why not pick on them?
Re: Does the ALL MIGHTY need blasphemy laws?
lol some of those countries also allow gay marriages. so its cool to follow them when it comes to blasphemy laws but not cool when it comes to their marriage laws? btw, their blasphemy laws donot include death penalty.
Re: Does the ALL MIGHTY need blasphemy laws?
You stated and I quote “Anyone who believes in blasphemy law seems very insecure in their faith.”
So please clarify do you consider Christians and in that regard the Governments of Germany, Denmark and Finland (as examples) weak in their faith?
Re: Does the ALL MIGHTY need blasphemy laws?
Doesn’t matter if they are christians or muslims. anyone who feels threatens by someones criticism to their religion does seem very insecure.
Re: Does the ALL MIGHTY need blasphemy laws?
So you believe the governments of Germany, Finland, Australia are all wrong? Just as wrong as Pakistan?
Re: Does the ALL MIGHTY need blasphemy laws?
Its not about Almighty or faith. Its about civility. If someone is ugly, do you make it a point to call them ugly to their face? Even if the law allows it, most people don’t. We live in pluralistic societies and those societies function on tolerance. Some states mandate it using laws and some don’t. And as bella88 pointed out, the ones that mandate it are of all kinds.. rich/poor, east/west, muslim/non-muslim. If you really want to go after silly laws in Pakistan, am sure you will find several others that are sillier than this.
Re: Does the ALL MIGHTY need blasphemy laws?
My question was for anyone who believes in blasphemy laws. Also, what people do or believe in, especially kaffirs, in their own country shouldn’t justify what you believe in as a Musalaman.
Re: Does the ALL MIGHTY need blasphemy laws?
how many of those countries have death penalty for blasphemy? when was the last time someone was killed in australia for blasphemy?
I think blasphemy laws are outrageous, and whether pakistan has it or Finland. (hate speech against people based on their religion however is different, and I do NOT support that. many of these countries consider that under blasphemy as well).
Re: Does the ALL MIGHTY need blasphemy laws?
It’s not a matter of going after silly laws but rather starting a dialogue among the minority privileged “paray likhay” Pakistanis who seem to be silent on such issues because they don’t concern them, either because they are living comfortably abroad or as upper/middle class citizens who can afford to ignore such laws.
Re: Does the ALL MIGHTY need blasphemy laws?
Zafra, why do YOU believe in such laws?
Re: Does the ALL MIGHTY need blasphemy laws?
Every society has some kind of base. Till our people become more mature and have access to scholarly work which bring forth real personalities real reasons behinds practices, We do need law.
Perhaps not harsh, perhaps not against common people, but people with influence.
For example I am all for law, which enable state to ban books like satanic verses, or a law banning salman rushdi to enter pakistan with intention of addressing people.
Re: Does the ALL MIGHTY need blasphemy laws?
Again what is the point of these laws? What difference are they making in the Pakistani society? Correct me if I’m wrong but i think this law was introduced in the 80’s, some decades after the creation of Pakistan. Was religion under attack before that?
Re: Does the ALL MIGHTY need blasphemy laws?
Do you honestly believe that the likes of Salman Rushide will turn Pakistanis into anti-Muslim atheists? How come this hasn’t happened to Muslims in countries where there are no such laws and Rushdie is a celebrated figure? On another note, have you actually read Satanic Versus or even know what it is about?
Re: Does the ALL MIGHTY need blasphemy laws?
Good question. Not many people read the book. But ever one want to give life opposing it or DEFENDING it.
I have not read it. But I know what he said against muslims.
I know he called black people some thing like sh#$ eaters, book is banned in south africa.
I know he called white women only good for F@#$#ing. stuff like that.
I can not read fiction so I could not read it.
Lets assume some thing. suppose we become unlike south asia or middle east. And become very tolerant. Suppose money come in(geo style). And job is to pick on basics of islam.
I have read articles of well known Christian scholars proving Quran is from devil.
You think we should let people run wild with such ideas ? when our own academia is in hibernation ?
