It’s not about insecurity. It’s a carefully orchestrated law to allow a state run program of religion fueled extremism and violence to intimidate masses and foreigners to keep the powerful in power.

Not quite. The funny thing about laws is that once imposed, it is definitive and not necessarily representative. Not all laws emit from a democratic process, but from principles that are adhered to regardless of the whims of a political constituency.

Do you really believe that your god or religion needs blasphemy laws to protect them? IMO it shows a lack of confidence in your faith to have such trivial laws when you believe that your religion is divine and your god is the ALL MIGHTY. Why does Pakistan need blasphemy laws while other Muslim majority countries don’t?

These arguments never gain traction, (unless they’re meant to be self-affirming rather than earnestly trying to sway opinion), because it misses the mark. The very same people that are loudest about such laws are the very same ones who would give up their life “defending” the faith, never mind taking the life of others. Call it what you may…but it is not insecurity.

That’s okay, sometimes I don’t either.

Some laws derive from principles regardless of what the “majority” think about it. So, I don’t think social uniformity is a key driver here…there are some things states dictate on ideological grounds. Citizenry are expected to internalize and accept, rather than make exceptions for. Or that’s how I see it…

How my country view idol worshipping? there are temples unharmed. There are people lived happily(before current wave hit the country)
