i didn’t speak Urdu until i was like 15 years old. i spoke Poorbii zabaan 24/7/365. i remember once i had to ask a guy whether the baby he was carrying was a boy or a girl…i tried my best and i asked this:
“yeh laRkii hai yaa mard?”
he smiled and replied:

“yeh 2 maah kaa mard hai!”** 
well, i’m a proud** ‘educated paindu’ **[gaNwaar].

btw, my manager recently visited karachi. his comments are "yar karachi main enjoy kia but kisi (larki) ko doosri bar dekhnay ko dil nae kia" :D I said, "acha hai aap waha jaa k naik ho gaye." do you know punjabi main noon ka begair "naik" kia hota hai? aur arbi main "naik" kisay kehtay hain?

What your paindu manger was actually saying ke kisi larki ne oos pe doosri nazar nahi daali. Really, Karachi girls don't like guys with oil in hair and surma in eyes.

I think this term is only used for picking on someone when they act anything below the standard.
Even some of my Punjabi friends call others paindu and its all for fun.

I used to love the chaarpai restaurants and the cuisine, like balti gosht, kata kat and stuff, I think the jawaani in pind was more full of vitality compared to metropolis area. My kids are part paindoos and that gives them best of both worlds. I love my paindoo mrs..wouldnt trade her for a shehri naak charhi misreable chick.

ONLY in Mumbai, this word is used with a hint of insult but in UP, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh it's used for a 'nice and easy going person' (a thorough gentleman)...everyone calls everyone else as 'Bhaiya Jii' in UP at least. so, it's not a derogatory word at all.

I love the richness of all cultures, diversity is what makes me tick. I would die of boredom if I didnt associate with interesting people from all cultures. In business though the gujratis and malyalam people are a nightmare to deal with.

They use word 'bhau' as we use bhaiya or bhai in conversations.
