Before I was told Paindu was an offensive term, I thought Paindu was someone who came from rural areas of Pakistan, which is mostly Punjab. I still don’t fully understand what exactly Paindu means.

Many people use this term but on social media I have seen mostly karachites using this term for other citizens. For them even lahoris are paindu let alone people from rural sindh/punjab.

I associate paindo with being a country folk or someone just very plain. But never any of the above mentioned --- pedophiles? errr no.

Trust me they (karachi walay) can be paindoo too and aside from the fact also for the nose picking/scratching/bad oral hygiene. Eeeww

Our opinions are sometimes forged by our experiences, stuff like Panchayat ordered gang rape of Mukhtaran Mai, stoning of own daughter outside court, sexual predation of young boys in Multan andthen committing it in Rotherham also. I am not sure if we can throw in cousin marriages.
Bringing up phlemn by strange throat noise and definitely scratching are defining qualities. I know these are stereo typing and outside of that simple country folks who are hospitable and warm

it has different meanings in different contexts.
when used by karachians - it is to insult the punjabis
when used by elitist/urban punjabis - it is to insult rural punjabis
when used by punjabis themselves - it is not to insult but to take pride in rural roots.

We see people following old habits or traditional/country things despite of having ample resources or switching from middle/lower to higher class.

This term is definitely not coined by Karachiites (specially Urdu speaking community) as Urdu got dehati to refer to people coming from rural areas. Its a fact that people from urban areas do have a perception for rural areas and people living there as is the peculiar perception of rural people about urban people. 'Shehri' is the simple counterpart of dehati / paindu. Shehris talk against dehati / paindus and Piandus talk against shehri. Everyone loves and brag about the lifestyle they belong to. For urban people, rural people are raw (lacking the manners they follow). For rural people, shehri lack substance, awkwardly behaving shallow people.
One can not get rid of such perception, till someone actually come into contact with other group.

btw, paidu is a Punjabi word and used in Pakistan. we don’t use this word in India. we have another word for it…it’s ‘gaNwaar’
paindu [in Pakistan] = gaNwaar [India]
ek kahaavat bhii hai is silsile se:
