Is bidh a wedding favour?

Hi,

So I just recently came to know that bidh is given by the groom's family on the nikkah/rukhsati day.

Is bidh considered a wedding favour or will we have to give all the guests a wedding favour on top of the bidh? The bidh that my fiance's family will give will consist of dried fruits and nuts in those little organza type bags. Please let me know. Thanks.

Re: Is bidh a wedding favour?

I've been to some weddings where bidh was the favor. I think rather than going with the typical organza bags, find some cute boxes (not the cardboard type) online. They have tons and tons and come in bulk for not that much. You can tie it with a personalized ribbon and then it would look more like a favor IMO.

But most of the weddings I've been to do give out a favor on top of the bidh.

Re: Is bidh a wedding favour?

originally the Holy Prophet Muhammad SAW gave dates to everyone after a wedding and since den ders bin a tradition of bidh given to celebrate the nikkah since in these days der wernt things such as favors and such. but now a days most ppl do give the bidh as a favour too. its easier and saves u money.

Re: Is bidh a wedding favour?

It is from the groom's side. You don't need to give anything more, based on Pakistani traditions. But in the West the hosts usually give favors, so many desis in the West have started doing the same.

Re: Creative “Bidh” distributing ideas

I love ‘bidh’ packets filled with all the bits and pieces but I think more and more brides are considering more modern versions. While browsing, I found spices by Spicy wedding @$1.50 per favour as wedding favours. Has anyone heard about this? Would anyone consider this as a favour at desi weddings?

Can some one tell me what is meant by favor? What's the concept? By the way, pretty stuff

Re: Creative "Bidh/Wedding Favours" distributing ideas

^theyre just small simple (usually simple) gifts for the guests. either theyre placed at the table for each person or given to them while they leave. if its something more extreme its usually handed to the guests while they leave, like to one person in the family so its 1 favor per family.

BTW, did anyone opt for the newer favours instead of regular ‘Bidh’ packets?
