the benefits do not outweigh the costs? in whose opinion? some guy who is hoping to go to heaven or someone who is a career scientist?

i’d say this definitely has more merit that someone selfishly spending time on prayer etc. in the hopes of making it to heaven.

Obviously, scientists would like to keep themselves in the business, irrespective of that they could not materialize sci-fi stories they tell
