Re: Considering wearing an American bridal gown

Me too. I think this one could pass for desi or American!

What’s a bustle?

The second one looks nice, do you have more pix of it?

I also like the last one!

Re: Considering wearing an American bridal gown

The style of this is perfect!!! I would love it in cream!!!

if u like this dress i could advice u one thing. in pakistan we make such dresses. its just that instead of going into complicated stitching like in the pic we go for simple one, but it looks more or less same as in the pic. its called panel style lehenga with tail.
it depends on you that how much panels u want. mostly we make 8 panel lehenga. 4 panels in front and 4 in back. in your case as u need tail too so your back panles will be of longer length then the front ones. u can mail me at [email protected] and i will send you pictures of panel style lehenga’s. we have many styles in that. you can make them in any color. we have ready made in red, light pink, and shampian light and dark. as demand of red is more so we have 20-25 ready made pieces of panel style lehenga’s with different design. we mostly deal in farshi lehenga so we have 1800 pieces of farshi lehenga in stock. if u like farshi lehenga it could also be made with a tail.

See the problem is I can probably get this dress for anywhere from $400- $800. If i were to get this made by a Pakistani tailor they would charge me anywhere from $1200 - $2500. Which is extremely overpriced.

Also the main purpose is for me to try the dress on, and have it in my hands, before I purchase it.

Why dont you PM me and give ma quote, and we can take it from there.

its when the train of the dress is kind of folded inwards and upwards in layers... sorry i dont have a pic to post, i can only find ugly examples on google. a small bustle looks nice with some style of dresses but its probably uncomfortable to sit down with it

Hmmm I have no idea what that is... :/

here’s a pic of what i mean, u see the train is kinda folded inwards

Re: Considering wearing an American bridal gown

bustles are behind your knees usually or slightly lower or upwards of that depending on the style of dress, so they’re actually not uncomfortable when you sit down since you’re not actually sitting on the bustle.
there are two ways to bustle- under and over. basically you take the edge of the train and hook it up either under the dress or over the dress so its easier to walk/dance, etc.
this picture shows both- the left is bustled over, the right image is bustled under-

for dresses, my current favourites are one shoulder gowns with birdcage veils- they look so elegant!

Re: Considering wearing an American bridal gown

Go for it woman!!!

I wore something very similar to this for my wedding reception, all French lace…and the straps were a little thinner:

If you want something with sleeves, you could go for a gown with a short lacy jackety thing to go on top, like this:

Or you could go for a scoop neck/off the shoulder with lace sleeves, like this:

Or you could go for something longer, like this:

The last one has a nice vintage feel to it…i’m thinking of having that made for our next big anniversary :hmmm:

As you can see, i have a bit of an obsession with lace :cb:…but you need to go out there and TRY STUFF ON!!! Only then will you know what you like, what looks good on you, what tones suit your colouring etc.

Happy shopping!! :shikra:

Re: Considering wearing an American bridal gown

^ what she said!
gowns look like one thing in pictures and like something totally different when you have them on.

Mar, i agree... french lace = swoon
i have such an obsession with alencon lace! its gorrrggeeeoussss.

Ahhhhhhh these dresses above are so beautiful! My honest opinion is that I think you should go for it! It’s the walima after all… you can get away with wearing something non-traditional. And wearing a dress like this (and I dont think you will have a problem finding a dress that isn’t white… there is usually beigy/pink, off white, cream, and even a very very light pink options at bridal stores). I think it will look so elegant and stunning. Your wedding will be set apart and memorable from others and just overall glamorous if you stick to a more western style theme overall. And as lipstick - keep the dupatta like a veil… verrryyyyyy sheer and light. I think you should have it made with mabey some stone/beadwork on the edge only (not more than a one inch border) … and wear it more towards the back of your head.

Call me lame - but I always thought Charlottes second wedding dress from SATC was so beautiful and elegant. This picture does not do it justice…

add more bling to this style of dress… And a light dupatta as opposed to a poufy veil…dramatic makeup and dramatic jewelry (polki preferably) and it is just wow.

I am probably not gonna have one.

I was told this is something that is tied together before you “walk down the aisle” and your braidsmaids pull it apart.

Very nice color, not too found of the style though.

Haha thanx, i needed the encouragement. My Fiance surprisingly loves this idea as well!

I tried some on, now im confused as to which style I like…

haha thanx i tried a few on today

THanks

Re: Considering wearing an American bridal gown

I tried on a few today... they were pretty but the lighting was really bad in the store, most of the dresses I tried were cream or ivory, but I couldnt tell how well they went with my skintone.
