Hey ladies. I’m considering wearing an American bridal gown to my Valima. The color of the dress would be cream, I would still wear a matching dupatta on my head, and it would obviously have to fully cover my cleavage and shoulders. (I know many bridal stores have the option to sew on sleeves if you pay a little extra)
What do you guys think? Should I go for an American gown or go wear a Pakistani lengha.
Hmmm well the reason I was considering an American one is because they have really nice trains with volume. Desi trains are flat and look like they were added to mop the floor to help with the clean up process.
I guess its up to you really - one thing i'd consider before wearing gora outfit is whether I'll actually stand out as a bride meaning - everyone else will have pakistani clothes on with heavy work and most gore bridal outfit are beautiful no doubt but humahre hisaab se light kaam hota hai?
^i know exactlyy what you're talking about! that's why i'm getting extra kapre added to the skirt of the lengha to make it more 'full' and also wearing a semi full bridal petticoat underneath. you should consider that too. :)

I dunno its just a thought
Yeah I was thinking that. I wanted swarovski crystals or something else to make it glitter.

yeah I considered that as well but it doesn't seem to look right :( do you have any pix
i saw it once and it looked WEIRD, and the girl was quite pretty too, and the dress was nice but it looked like she came from a costume party and forgot to change, maybe cos the dress was so poofy... and dupatta+dress=weird combination
but i have seen a bride pull it off, except she wore a thin net veil on a high bun at the back of her head so it was semi-dupatta, her head wasn't bare, her dress was white and gorgeous and more like a gown with a trail but not poofy, and she had her friends wear dresses too (in a theme) so she didn't look odd, but very unique actually!
also the groom and his friends must wear suits! and the stage decor should be contemporary (crystals etc) not traditional (flower trains etc)
personally, i LOVE our desi dresses (i.e. layngas) so i can't imagine wanting to wear anything but!
if you're looking for a trail, try a farshee gharara, trails look amazingggg then...

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking that too, if the dress is too poofy it might not look good on me, because Im short. Im thinking maybe a mermaid style gown with a train.
I agree with the decor. It has to be very elagant, not desified in order to matach.
So ladies, im thinking my Valima dress will be peach, champage, or cream. Regardless of weather its a lengha or American gown. I will post some pix of what I have in mind.
I think a long dress with dupatta will look wierd. Why dont you go for something similiar to mine? A floor gown with side or front slit and lengha underneath.

Have you gone and tried on different styles to see how you look?
Honestly, you can look totally elegant in it if you have it altered with sleeves and have a higher neck ..... I've tried on a variety of styles, just for fun, when my friend was getting married and it was great. Made me feel like a princess. :D
I have not yet. I am going to try some on Tuesday. I dont know, now that I see all the white dresses, it doesnt seem as attractive. I dont like the way white looks on me. I want like a nice creamy color.
