the problem is with the chief justice or the judgment? if the judgment was wrong, then how come u support musharraf and indirectly a wrong judgment. If the judgment was right and still the judge was wrong, how come u were silent all these years?

Exactly…that’s mush’s five ton gut sized contradiction…i.e. the judgement is wrong, but the culprit who is exonerated through is bad judgement is innocent and infalliable…this is twilight zone calibre delusion…

Munir A. Malik, a lawyer for the suspended chief justice, said the allegations were lies and said that he still wanted to cross-examine Musharraf in court.

Ijaz’s affidavit was accompanied by two others filed by Aijaz Shah, head of the Intelligence Bureau, and Lieutenant General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kiyani, director general of the Inter Services Intelligence, who were all present at the March 9 meeting between Musharraf and Chaudhry. Shah claims that Chaudhry had sought his assistance in suppressing media reports about his alleged misconduct. The statements are in response to an affidavit submitted by Chaudhry’s lawyers last Tuesday, in which Chaudhry claims he was detained against his will and pressed to resign [IHT report].

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry advised the president to dissolve parliament and make him head of an interim administration to oversee elections several months before the judge was suspended, three government officials said in affidavits submitted to the Supreme Court on Thursday. Major Gen Mian Nadeem Ijaz, director general of Military Intelligence, said in his affidavit: “He was of the view that president should dissolve the assemblies, as they were becoming a nuisance and hold elections under the CJP … He wanted me to assure all concerned that he will make things very smooth.” Maj Gen Ijaz also claimed the CJP regularly tasked him “to provide information on judges … so he could build a database for his own reference”. Lt Gen (r) Hamid Javed, the president’s chief of staff, denied the CJP’s claims that he was summoned to Army House, saying the meeting was called on the judge’s request and was held at the presidential camp office. He claimed the CJP called the intelligence chiefs to the meeting.

He said the charges against the CJP included fiddling expenses, harassing fellow judges and bias in their appointments. The government also alleged that cars purchased with government money were used by Justice Chaudhry’s family and that he obtained a plot in Karachi eight years ago that he was not entitled to. Brigadier (r) Ijaz Ahmed Shah, director general of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) also submitted an affidavit, along with supporting affidavits from other government officers. They contradicted the CJP’s claim that he was detained at the camp office against his will for several hours. They denied that anyone had forced the CJP to write out his resignation, though it was offered as an option.

The “CJ” wanted the agencies to quash media reports against him, but he wanted them to go after judges he did not like!

The president then said that the CJ, in his last meeting at Aiwan-e-Sadr on February 13, 2007, had requested him (president) to ask the intelligence agencies to assist the CJ in suppressing the media reports, which were tarnishing his image. The intelligence agencies carried out a discreet fact-finding probe based on the CJ’s request, says the affidavit. The president informed the CJ that he was pained to learn about the findings of the intelligence agencies and drew his attention to the main points of the reference received by him.

The affidavit says that the CJ launched a campaign of indiscreet character assassination of a number of judges of the high courts. The CJ gave verbal orders of forced leave to two judges of the LHC i.e. Justice Sheikh Abdul Rashid and Justice Akhtar Shabbir. Regarding harassment of judges, the affidavit further says that the CJ wanted to initiate proceedings in the Superior Judicial Council (SJC) for misconduct against 12 judges of the Lahore High Court (LHC), Sindh High Court (SHC) and Peshawar High Court (PHC); however, the federal government had nothing against them.

This whole news is about as credible as Mush saying he will hold free and fair elections later this year. C'mon he's seriously rattled by recent events, CJP suspension, May 12 murders and u-turn on media curbs after international condemnation and street demonstrations. This is nothing but a political game to try and discredit the CJP
