and CIA never had contact with Al-Qaeda??? and never even trained Osama bin laden and others? its all ISI!! i dont think CIA got the guts for this given their own position. ISI may have some influence and spy links left among afghani/taliban militants after its u-turn cause of CIA and 9/11 but I dont think it is involved any attack on americans.

**CIA cites Pakistan ISI’s ties to militants **NEW YORK, July 30 (AP): The CIA has confronted senior Pakistani officials with evidence showing that members of Pakistan’s Directorate for Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) have deepened their ties with some militant groups responsible for a surge of violence in Afghanistan, The New York Times reported. A top CIA official traveled to Islamabad this month with new information about ties between the ISI and militants operating in Pakistan’s tribal areas, the newspaper said on its website late Tuesday. Its sources were American military and intelligence officials it did not identify. The Times said the CIA assessment pointed to links between the ISI and the militant network led by Jalaluddin Haqqani, which American officials believe maintains close ties to senior figures of Al Qaeda in Pakistan’s tribal areas. The visit to Pakistan by the CIA official, Stephen R. Kappes, the agency’s deputy director, was described by several American military and intelligence officials in interviews in recent days, the Times said. In an interview broadcast Tuesday on PBS television show “The NewsHour With Jim Lehrer,” Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani said that to say that some in the ISI are “sympathetic to the militants, this is not believable. … We will not allow that.” CIA spokeswoman Marie Harf refused to comment on the Times report late Tuesday. Oh this is nothing new CIA has been blabbering for quite some time it has been reported all over the place several times but what i find quite amusing is Indian spin on the tale… e.g.. Obama warns Pak, two different stories reported by Indian and Pak media but could not tally Indian side from any other source.

O' CIA was lying in bed with these mujahideen till atleaset late 1989. Soviets left and they become Pakistan's problem. ISI then used these mujahideen to first create Pakistan's hegimony in Afghan politics and then to gain control over almost all of Afghanistan, so that they atleast have one friendly neighbor on their back.
These same mujahideen then harbored OBL and company ....and became a sore in the eye/pain in the ass of CIA/US gov especially since after 911.
Problem is US/CIA can create and change their policies viz a viz Afghanistan/Pakistan every other day but it is them now who have to live with this well planned and orchestrated mess by CIA, now almost there for the last 20 years.

the isi could if it wishes to transform the military balance of the world within months if it deems it required for the safety of pakistan

have seen enough of this bravado...if US decides to halt wheat programme under PL 480 ur entire population would die of hunger... not enough money to pay for oil...neither have the capacity to produce sufficient food grains to support growing population u belive u have the audacity to change the global order???
