Re: Being kaali pakistani
I'm an NC 40 and in Bobbi Brown I'm a Warm Natural 4.5. It seems like most people are NC40-NC42. That's not dark at all in my opinion. I've been told it's right in the middle... "wheatish" I'm guessing.
People are just weird like that. Ignore them. It's important for you to have healthier skin, which it looks like you do. I didn't see any acne or anything in your picture. And don't stress yourself out with skin color worries that you'll end up breaking out with acne.
Also, if it helps... while I've been told by idiots back in Pakistan that I'm dark, I've been told by some that I'm fair. I've even had Paki guys tell me that I'm light skinned, which I never understood. I'm not sure where you live, but some people in the US like to call desis, "brown" people. I've had Arabs, Asians, and white people tell me that I don't look like a "brown" person because I'm not dark enough. My point is that what some perceive as dark, can be seen as light by others.
And the UK girls thing... that's stupid. If they're like that, then don't make them your friends.
Re: Being kaali pakistani
Urm....send those people to Specsavers - that should resolve the issue. And inspiron, you look pretty hot in that picture - from what I can see. :)

Please tell me you’re joking with this comment.
I know what you mean.
:k:
:k:
Ladies, since when is being kaali a bad thing?
You will not change your skin tone, other peoples’ minds or the way our society thinks. So don’t try.
My mom is super fair. My dad is really dark. I am the darkest in my sisters. I used to think this was really bad because the same desi mentality…dark = ugly. I actually remember being 5 years old and praying to Allah to make me lighter. Even my ex-MIL made comments at me for being dark! I am an NC30.
It stops when you stop.
You look at what Allah swt has given you. The blessings. The personality. The opportunities. The chances. The face. The color you DO have. And you start to become grateful.
You can’t go through life letting other people dictate what you see yourself as. That is a waste of time because you will NEVER appeal to everyone’s sense to taste. NEVER. There will always be someone who thinks you’re not all that. Being fair will not make this go away.
I have a friend whose face and color is a perfect 10…but she is severely insecure about her figure.
What might help is understanding that Allah swt makes us all a certain way…he doesn’t make mistakes. He makes us perfect. Work on the health of your skin, your body and be the best version of you. That is enough.
Re: Being kaali pakistani
That was honestly such heart felt words and made me feel so much better reha! x

lol. dont be offended, i m sanwala too and happy with the way Allah made my color. :D
Re: Being kaali pakistani
you just need to be confident and think positive...i know it can be hard but if you start thinking that "god has blessed me with good features and skin colour" then it will make your life much easier.
jab tum khud hi aise socho gi ke nahi main kaali hoon, pata nahi loag mere rung ke baare main kya kahain ge tou tumhare liye mushkil hoga.
if anyone says anything to you about your colour you should answer them directly....dont think that how will i answer back.....ek ko jawab do gi tou ahista ahista sab ko pata chal jaye ga is say ainda yeh baat nahi karni.
here i wont say that if someone calls you a kaali or says something indirectly then you should ignore...since ignoring is not possible always and such things can be very hurtful...instead you need to speak up for your self and tell people that you love your colour and that they need to learn manners.
god bless u.

I am not offended...at all
Re: Being kaali pakistani
I'm offended by the karachi comment and think you should be banned for it :)
Oh, and inspi, your complexion is awesome! I bet you're really hot and stuff so stop getting down on yourself yeah. People are d-bags in general and you shouldn't be arsed by their idiotic comments.
Re: Being kaali pakistani

No its not your features. And anyone calls you "African" b/c of your skin color is an idiot...and I really actually mean that. They're idiots and you need to stop associating yourself with people who have such low level of intelligence.
Re: Being kaali pakistani
Paheli i think your height is absolutely fine and if your really concerned you can always wear high heels, Its better to be short than tall as im too tall and i cant find any pants that are made long enough..im 5'9 and my fiance is 6'1..plus if i wear high heels that looks so odd on me cuz that makes me super tall and im obessed with the heels :(
LOL....see.....this is exactly what I mean. Grass is always greener on the other side. :) I think I'm too short and would love to be 5'9".....yet you have that height and think you're too tall. Now apply that exact logic to skin color. Women out there bake themselves in the sun, and PAY tanning salons, and buy bronzers b/c they think they're too "pale" or "white". And yet here you are depressed about your color b/c its too dark. :)
Honestly....this obsession is all in your head. Your family, in-laws, and fiance has no problem with your color. Focus on that. Don't worry about random aunties out there.
Re: Being kaali pakistani
So where does one get these colour ratings from?
Does someone put up a colour wheel to your face like they do at home depot for your walls?
Re: Being kaali pakistani
Btw, WTF is wrong with being African?
Re: Being kaali pakistani
Whats with desi girls go tanning ?? . . . just sayin'
Re: Being kaali pakistani
Dekho sirf gori hi hai.....nain naqsh to bilkul fazool hain..........gori hai issi liye itna gharoor hai....
and everyone complimented that it looks nice on me..then she goes "mujhey pata tha yeh rang aap par acha lagey ga kyun ke ek larki ko mene dekha tha usska rang bhi bilkul apke jaisa tha uss par bhi purple suit kar raha tha issliye mene yeh dress liya apke liye" i was litrelly heartbroken by this comment by her..
You need to stop being so sensitive....there is nothign wrong in what she said, and there are many people who have to be conscious of what color suits them...
people NEVER think I am pakistani EVER and that bugs me :/ like they always think I am something unusual. Anyway i guess very yellowy isnt that unusual and bobbi brown suits me better anyway.
I dont know im just rambling on. This thread has hit a nerve with me I am going to be quiet now!
Dude, everyone thinks I'm Mexican/Latina....methinks this not looking desi can work to your advantage. Ummmwhatwasmypoint, yeah its not a biggie...
No its not your features. And anyone calls you "African" b/c of your skin color is an idiot...and I really actually mean that. They're idiots and you need to stop associating yourself with people who have such low level of intelligence.
Actually I have seen light-skinned Africans in that same color...not that there's anything wrong with it....
Anyways, one of the best-looking people I've ever known is "dark" (probably an NC 50 or something close to it)
Re: Being kaali pakistani
I can so relatee to you girlie.
lemme share my pic with u
I am golden neutral in clinique..
so we used to live in a joint family systme.. and i was the darkest one among all my siblings and cousins. I’d been called kalo pari and what not. On top of that, during summer i would get some kind of infection/ pimples (?) on my legs, and people would say " is ka tou khoon hi kharab hai" .. when my mom was pregnant with my little sister, her friend asked her to not carry me aound with her anymore " warna choti bhi is ki tarhan badsurat ho jai ghi".. lol i started using whitening creams and all kind of desi totkas from very youngage… sighhh… i suffered with major depression all my childhood..
anyways I dont think i am that kali anymore but deep down i still have this hugeeeee inferiority complex and still wish i was as gori as my sisters.. could somehow lighten my skin a lil bit. I think because of this low self esteem i alwayss take people comments about me negatively and associate everything with me being kali.. like I have kind of big eyes so if people ask me if im Bengoli i would think its coz of my complexion.. just the other day my khala made this comment about my sister ( or about me?) " tum bhi Sana ki tarhan kaali horai hou" and my sister turned around was like " REally" i dont know if she was really worrying about her complexion or like others she also thinks im kaaliii..
