I concur. You have to have some kind of motivation in order to be able to purchase a gym membership, continue to use it's services regularly and march along in healthy diet eating habits. Personal trainers are best for some people, others feel more comfortable by coming in and doing things their own way, and everyone has their ways. The benefits of having a trainer is that you have a certain time limit in which you are pushed to the maximum (and then some), and after a session of 30, 45 or 60 minutes, you feel like you have conquered the world.

For partners, it is best how one feels about going the gym. Some go in to socialize, while others have motives and goals.
