Being kaali pakistani

Re: Being kaali pakistani

@OP and you can say this sha'ir to them which I quoted earlier:

Rang kala hay farishtoon key bhool say
Aik till laga rahay thay k siahee bikhar ga-e
:D

Re: Being kaali pakistani

Everything bugs you inspi.

Re: Being kaali pakistani

I KNOW I AM ANNOYING MYSELF RIGHT NOW TOO

Re: Being kaali pakistani

Basically RV.

I am a love or really dont like at all kinda girl.

I have been told on here and in public i really look like rihanna and also maria wasti. People think I am from brazil sometimes. I get attention from men of all races.

BUT at the same time

The pakistiani community. My community and family tell me that dark = ugly.

Some days I am super confident. Some days I am very insecure.

On the insecure days I curse myself and wish I was fair with long dark hair and looked typically pakistani.

Most days I am happy.

You have known me a while RV and I have improved alot in confidence over the years and I take alot of pride in my appearance.

Although what people say does hurt and hurts alot I have learnt to try and not internalise it . I am beautiful in my own way.

Re: Being kaali pakistani

Friends? Change you're company, who needs friends telling you what colour is acceptable. That's to me is not friendship.
Family? Its not difficult to ignore the taunting aunties and uncles. Everyone has 'that' annoying relative who makes snide remarks, whatever the culture. Learn to ignore.

Re: Being kaali pakistani

Paheli! just for you im posting my picture here...please note that this is a pic so i might appear abit lighter in a picture i think im bit darker than this as i have uneven skintone...

Re: Being kaali pakistani

You will never be able to satisfy everyone, If you were fair skinned, you'd be picked on for something else. For instance height, if not height then probably nose, hand, feet, teeth, eye color etc etc It will never end!

So, just ignore those stupid aunties and friends. Your friends might just be jealous of you because you are soon to be married, and aunties,,, lets just say that its their hobby to punch down young girls confidence levels!

Re: Being kaali pakistani

ganxta: Firstly, I'm officially classifying you as "insane" in my book b/c you're not "kaali". :)

Secondly: There is a difference between "uneven skintone" and being darker.

Third: I'm not a MU artist...but I THINK your undertones are different than mine. Looking at the pic, I don't see as much "yellow" on your face as I have on mine. You may lean more towards "olive" undertones.

Forth: There are plenty of stuff about chemicals peels on the other board. You can look into that to even out skin tone. Also look into Vit. C Serums.

Again.....go back to MAC and try something LIGHTER than NC40. You can also ask the SA to try the NW shades just for the heck of it. After than...hit sephora (b/c they have so many brands", and get a SA there to match you.

Re: Being kaali pakistani

no seophora in the uk paheli! But GG try john lewis, house of fraser, selfridges, harvery nics :)

I am same range as you but a different tone GG!

Re: Being kaali pakistani

Also ganxta: If it helps any....I'm super short. My height is only 5 feet. (well, if you want to get super technical...I'm 5 feel 3/4 inches..). :) I'm the shortest one in my family and now, as an adult....at my work and social circle...I'm on the "short" side. My fiance is 5'11" and "teases" me about it alot.

There was a time when this bothered me. But what can I do? And to be honest....now that I'm at a point mentally where I've "accepted" myself....I can't tell you what a wonderful feeling that is. Anytime I stand next to someone I'm aware of my height. When I go shopping, I'm painfully aware of pants/dresses that're waaay too long for me. Can you imagine me trying to do lehenga shopping?! So yea.....everyone has their "thing".

I really do understand the idea of you being insecure about a feature. BUT....you must also understand that your "thing" does not prevent you from leading a normal life full of happiness. The ONLY person who can make you so insecure is you. It sounds like you have a great fiance and a MIL who likes you. Her comments are not meant to hurt you at all.....she's treating you the way my mother treats me. Accept their love and realize that you deserve it. :)

Re: Being kaali pakistani

Aww thank you so much for not thinking im kaali..it means alot to me!
I said uneven skintone because my forhead and chin area is darker than the rest of my face so i said its uneven aswell..ill definately look into Vitamin C serum but dont know about the peels because it sounds scary..i dont wana do anything harsh on my skin..

I know i might have olive undertones and caramel..i recently got Bobbi browns foundation in natural tan that looked dark too...it seems like theres no match to my skintone! but thanks so much for the advises Paheli!!

Re: Being kaali pakistani

Im sure you are lighter than me inspiron!

Re: Being kaali pakistani

I thought I read somewhere that OP is moving to UK after her wedding? Maybe I mis-read it....

Re: Being kaali pakistani

GG try warm natural in bobbi brown. Natural tan is too dark on me too! Sometimes mix natural tan and warm natural

I am this

Re: Being kaali pakistani

Exactly. Im not yet in London...
Paheli i think your height is absolutely fine and if your really concerned you can always wear high heels, Its better to be short than tall as im too tall and i cant find any pants that are made long enough..im 5'9 and my fiance is 6'1..plus if i wear high heels that looks so odd on me cuz that makes me super tall and im obessed with the heels :(

Re: Being kaali pakistani

Why don't you try mixing foundations? I've mixed an NC25 with a NC30 before to get a closer match. Prescriptives has a custom blend foundation which they have discontinued in the UK that used to be godsend. :(

Re: Being kaali pakistani

If you're black then I need to get my eyes checked

Re: Being kaali pakistani

You ladies have beautiful coloring. Allah makes all his people beautiful. Believe in that and you will feel it come from within you.
