Re: Bad experiences with designers- share your story here!
I feel like taking up all these stories make an article of it and get it published in a newspaper ...tht way i will end up having all the designers as my enemies lolzz
im just throwing this out there and i hope im not generalising or offend anyone. but do you feel that customers sometimes get bad service becuase of their initial behaviour towards the designer. for example the typical desi aunty behaviour of:
expecting to be able to haggle down price considerably, looking at something and saying 'waisay kaam to itna nahee hayh laykin price bhoth zayada hayh', going in to the appointment and acting as if they are better than the designer, not apprecitating the work of the designer, speaking to other members of the party in hushed tones, or another dialect or in riddles infront of the designer.
i personnally think that if you go in and apprecitate a designers work then they will give you great customer service.
if you go in believing that you could get the same thing made from an 'ada' then you will not have a pleasant experience. ppl need to understand that you are partly paying for the design and creative process....you might be able to get a design copies but you cannot come up with the original design yourself.
and of course it is going to be expensive, if you can get away with making as much profit as possible why wouldn't you (it's human nature, we all do it). designer clothing is not made for the masses, this is something that in general is not realised. most ppl will buy designer clothes only rarely, very few ppl have the money to buy designer clothes all the time (i am in no means rich, i am normal middle-class). if there are clothes i cannot afford i don't bad-mouth designers in general but go for something i can afford.
having said that, I do agree there are designers out there who rip ppl off by not giving what the customer paid for (cough HH *cough) or by not delivering on time and do have a lack of manners. But i do think these are in the minority. I know all the designers we have gotten things made from have so far been terrific.
i cant stand the aunty behavior either. If this forums name was bad AND good designer experiences i would add my terrific experience with
samyra rashid, sana safinaz, umer sayeed and karma. i cant complain much about my session with nomi ansari either even though i did see him making fun of the typical aunty behavior of another client which i could not stand myself
Also, i think the ladies who are hiding in a hole in their houses and operate only by word of mouth and dont even give their names out in magazines lest somebody from the income tax finds out, should not even be considered as "professional" designers
It's better to do go to an "adda" than to these hiding-in-a-hole- so called professional designers because then you can remind them of due dates and not suffer from lateness as well as ugly attitude in return- not to mention the fraud of full payment-half work done
This is ridiculous. I think she took advantage of you guys because she thought you were based outsided Pakistan and would not affect her clientele in pakistan too much. (just an idea)
she’s pretty well known. she has her website and gives ad in magazines. i think you should give this in an article in magazine.
did you tell her that even the material used is different than what was agreen upon?
we should be able to sue people like that.
Re: Bad experiences with designers- share your story here!
omg! your friend must be horrified to see her valima outfit. this outfit looks like the work of an inexperienced darzi. the cut is pathetic, even a good tailor can stitch clothes with a nice cut.
you ppl should sue the designer for giving you this crap for Rs 120000!
Nomi Ansari - The Jerk
In the recent years, I have heard nothing but horrible things about Nomi Ansari, some stories even from the guppans here about their bad experiences with him.
Usually when I need to inquire about an outfit on any facebook group, I send out a message to the person who’s name is listed under the admin. I have done that with pretty much every group, from Karma to HSY, and have always gotten a reply back.. and if it’s not the right person to be contacted, I have been told quite politely who I should be writing to. So I was looking at Nomi’s group a few days ago and noticed an email listed there. I am not a fan of his work but there were a couple of formals I really liked so I decided to email them for a quote. Days later when I still didn’t get a reply, I went back to the group today and messaged the ‘admin’ for a quote. Now there were two names listed there, one was his own and another one of some mulghalar chick. Usually the designers themselves don’t even write back, and the other people listed in the group are the assistants or people who they work with, so I messaged this Mulghular asking her if she could quote me on the formals.
A few hours later, I get this from Nomi Ansari himself:

I wrote him a reply back and let’s just say, screw him and his business. If you don’t want your ‘friends’ to get messaged, why the hell are they even listed on the group? There’s no way I am going to waste money on clothes made by someone who cannot even respect his customers.. a concept obviously lost on him ![]()
Re: Nomi Ansari - The Jerk

Re: Nomi Ansari - The Jerk

Re: Nomi Ansari - The Jerk
wow, a real jerk. It would be good to do an expose on these designers who are plain horrid. Then air the program on Prime Time Pakistani TV.
Re: Nomi Ansari - The Jerk
Omg shay!! I hope u replied back and gave him a piece of ur mind! What an avrtfbpfcb!! Ugh! He honestly does not respect his clients. It's kind of annoying that people like him are still in business. Why would you even put ur friend as an admin in the group if u don't want that friend contacted by people?!
Re: Nomi Ansari - The Jerk
Wow I still can't believe he would reply back saying that and not even type correctly like he was drunk. Actually I guess it's not hard to believe since it's him. I hate businesses with bad customer service and Nomi Ansari just sucks at that.
Re: Nomi Ansari - The Jerk
He was in Dubai a couple of weeks back.. and he was making fun of everyone's "chaal" (they way people walk!)
Re: Nomi Ansari - The Jerk
Bohooooo..!! Down with him..!
Re: Nomi Ansari - The Jerk
Update:
This is what he wrote:

Here was the reply I sent back to him:
You're not getting it because you're an idiot.
First of all, who the hell are you? I liked some clothes on this group and I sent the inquiry to the admins listed there thinking they are the designers/assistants. As far as I know there were only two people there including you so it only went to one other person besides you.
If I was not suppose to do that then you could have politely told me through this message. There's no reason for you to act like a rude jerk.
Seems like things I have heard from your past customers about what a stuckup, rude, arrogant and bipolar idiot you are, now I can see they were quite right. If you can't respect your customers, you can go to hell. Success goes to people's head at times, you're a classic example. Learn to respect your customers because they are who make your business a success but that seems like a concept lost on you. No need to act like a hotshot designer from Pakistan, you're nowhere even near being one =)
So I go back and see that he has blocked me on facebook, and then I searched for his group. I was not a member there to begin with- it was an open group and I could see everything posted there including the pictures until a few hours ago. Now it's a 'closed' group and 'request to join' only- this is hilarious!
Re: Nomi Ansari - The Jerk
shay, u scared him off!!! HAHAHAHAHA
Re: Nomi Ansari - The Jerk
Lolol hilarious. Seriously what a jerk. I should message him a link to this site. :)
Re: Nomi Ansari - The Jerk
Everyone should send him messages! He needs the Hajra Hayat treatment too!
