There’s one hadith I remember that talks about this issue.
Muslim narrates from Thawban:
While I was standing beside the Prophet
, one of the rabbis of the Jews came …] then said: “I have come to ask you about something no one on earth would know except a Prophet …]. I have come to ask you about the child.” The Prophet said: “The fluid of the man is white and that of the woman yellow. When they unite and the male fluid prevails upon the female fluid, their child is male (adhkaraa) by Divine permission. When the female fluid prevails upon the male fluid, their child is female (aanathaa) by Divine permission.” The Jew said: “What you said is true; you are truly a Prophet!” He turned and went away. The Messenger of Allah said: “This man just asked me about things of which I had no knowledge whatever until Allah had that knowledge brought to me!”

Oh please ppl get over this boy complex!! I am so sick of hearing females (yes especially females) dying for having a boy and telling u to do dua and what not.
I don't understand why do we have to act so harsh towards a person who wants to have a boy? I wanted to open a similar thread but changed my mind after reading some horrible replies.
Maryam(AS)'s father who was a Prophet also prayed for a baby boy, does that mean he was in some sort of "complex"?
We shouldn't be judgemental because we don't know people's intentions.
I totally agree with hareem. Is there anything wrong with having a desire for a particular sex? be it a girl or a boy?why is it that no one lashes out when someone wants a girl?
Ofcourse having a healthy baby is the most important thing, and im sure that thats the first dua on every mothers tongue, because no mother would want an unhealthy child. However everyone is allowed to wish and ask Allah for a baby boy/girl. Just because they want a boy does not automatically give them a complex!I have mashallah 2 girls and i love them to death, and if god wills when i get pregnant again a WANT and will do DUA for a boy. In the end whatever Allah will bless me with i will be happy with but i dont think having a desire for a boy should be looked down upon in this way.
a big relief ......honestly when i start this i was like sitting in middle of all old age aunties (with all old thinking totally pakistani ladies ......)....and since i asked for close this topic i end up with some answer that i can relief my self ......its not a big deal for me either having one or other..... but there is always a chance u can do something for yourself....
Salaamz mrs outkaast. this is a VERY late post but im new and i just couldnt resist something useful tht worked for me when we were trying for our first child (baby girl btw).
along with duas and ovulation timings, i did try the chinese gender calculator, and Allah did bless us with a girl. the one i used was chinese gold gender calculator, and the free ebook they have.
btw, i totally agree with your point of view about the accusations... not everyone is sitting in dung village and believing that only male heirs are wirthy of recognition.
everyone is entitled to their wish for the childs gender and we all should respect attemptd for the gender wish... rest is upto Allah. and whether its a boy or a girl every mother prays for a sane healthy and god-fearing child.
