I think it should be fairly obvious that these guys are geniuses. and I don’t mean genius like omg you got a 99 on Calculus… how did you do it? I’m talking about stuff that changed the world forever. Bill Gates, Einstein, Buffett have all done that. they’re all geniuses, i.e., not normal people.
and btw, Buffett despite his obvious genius did get a graduate degree from Columbia… to give an example to counter the Gates, Einstein degreeless examples.
Hon, my fiance is a doctor too. And it's really not that hard if you're from a very good school. You get tons of interviews. I know exactly what a DO is. I know 7 people who went to DO schools. You know why? coz they couldn't get into an MD school. Also, DO can apply to some MD residencies but not the really prestigious ones like dermatology, orhthopedic surgery, diagnostic radiology.
Please don't be under the mistaken assumption that I don't know what I am talking about. I am saying all this from first hand experience.
Who said Jobs, Gates, Einstein were aliens??
honestly, some people like to argue for the sake of arguing. The message is very clear yet they fail to acknowledge it.

Yep, agree with you on that.
Just how they were geniuses, don't you think there are regular people who are capable of being extremely successful despite of attending mediocre schools? My example was to show that it all comes down to intelligence, doesn't it? So then why the need to have a label of ivy league to prove to the world that you got brains. Why is it so hard for some people to get beyond that mentality?
What you said about business is also true, in the business field you need a good network and all to be at the top of the game which comes from a good school.. but does that mean an average business graduate cannot have a successful career?

of course, they can. anyone who works hard enough can succeed regardless of a degree or not.
the only point I think is that certain opportunities are restricted to the top schools. for example, it's much harder/impossible to get into top finance jobs unless you got to a top school. this is why ppl say that an MBA is only worth getting if you got to a top 10 school. but then again things depend a lot on your personal situation, your goals, your location, etc.
I think we're all saying the same thing. just looking at it from different angles.

nope, not yet. I have one acceptance. and if I wasn't wasting time on GS, I would be finishing up my application to another school. God bless GS. destroying careers and lives... bit by bit...

Wow are you serious?! A DO is a fake doctor! Are you kidding me? I really didn't want to stray off the topic but I really couldn't stop myself from posting, how exactly are they fake doctors? DO you care to explain? Just because you know seven people who didn't get into a MD program and went into a DO program, does not make them fake doctors or lower their status. Many people, including you are misinformed and not aware of the program
P.S. I am not a DO doctor, don't plan on becoming one or know anyone who is one......so its not personal...I just don't like when people spit out such wrong information
I think the point a lot of posters are failing to realise is that the bulk of these people with MBA's do them so mummy and daddy can go around saying "my kid has an MBA". It doesn't get them better jobs or help them progress or relate their capability to do so.
Want to come to the UK on a student visa? Apply for an MBA. Guaranteed to get into to some college affiliated with some "university". Qualify for the 2 year work visa and look forward to the new options opened to you such as being able to work in a call center or internet marketing.

Yeah I agree.. I personally know someone who rejected her offer for early acceptance MD to go for DO program. DOs have more opportunities as compared to MDs. I think since its a new thing, most people are misinformed << the reason why i didn't want to reply to her. I think she is just misinformed.

I agree, a DO is not a fake doctor. It's a slightly different way of practicing medicine
that's messed up. And no, I'm not a DO either
even Caribbean med students are good doctors. Doesn't matter where you got your degree from, as long as you're a good, practicing physician
Ok Ok the fake doctor part is an exaggeration but trust me, they don't get the same acknowledgment as an MD. You will never find DO's at presitiguous, well-reputed institutions. And that's why the well-reputed schools don't have a DO school. They only offer MD.
I am NOT misinformed. I know exactly what I am talking about. Have a DO apply to a well reputed residency program in a top ranked university. Let's see if they even get an interview.
