Where are you getting military keeping its eyes on modernity? That's not what I was agreeing or disagreeing with.
I agree with Arshad5, essentially, that the problem is not with the footsoldier who may be loyal to Pakistan, but with SOME of the top brasses, who've used the army for their corrupt purposes.

Agreed, but as you stated they are subject to law. Therefore they must be treated as by law and not being harassed, oppressed and made silent by threats. These methods are practised my mafias not governments and are in no relation to LAW.

Nothing is entire up to you as long as you have military staff watching you 24/7. Zia was creator of radicals in our land. Musharraf made Attatuerk live again, just for some moments that is.
