I'll get some Ugg boots or I think I'll just stay at home and keep myself warm.
I've heard the heating systems in the houses are like AC's so that there are vents which pump out hot and cold air as and when its needed.
in england its all radiators which sucks.
if anyone of you guys have been to england, which one is better between canada and england/
I been to England numerous times...and every time I go I feel that's its so congested...when you come here your going to be amazed at the amount of open space there is!!! England has a lot of charactor...and is beautiful in its own way...apart from all the rain...but Canada is in my 'biased" opinion much better!! :P Because like ppl have mentioned our health care system is one of the best, our education system is pretty darn good, its very multicultural...basically considered a melting pot, and where known for our natural resources and scenic wonders!! Go visit Niagara Falls!! And yes to conclude...hockey is a trillion times better than football/rugby...whatever you brits call it up there!! Oh and you'll no longer be called a brit for that reason alone you should move here lol!! and don't forget to sometimes throw in an "eh" after you say something..cause its the Canadian thing to do! ;)
Markham’s a good area. It’s got some decent desi eating places. Not sure how many desis are in that area, but to see some real desiness, head to Brampton and Missisauga.
Weather’s amazing. You’re going to see the awesomest falls and the coldest winters and the prettiest springs and the most bewildering summers.
If you want to do the snow activities, like skiing, snowboarding, etc, you’ll have to head to oh god the place’s name slips my mind right now :s I don’t think toronto proper has any such ski resorts, but just outside of it you will find it. I’m not a winter person, i’d rather sit inside and watch the snow fall, so not a good resource for it
to get a general idea of the place, head here Toronto
there are a few skiing places near berrie ontario ... and i don't know what exactly the location is called but on the way to waterloo there is hte blue mountain resort that also has a ski hill

omg thank you! blue mountain. that's what the name of the resort was hehe
if you want a more laid back environment and to be honest want to run away from RACISM trust me canada is the place to be, all places got their pros and cons but to be honest until unless there are circumstancial changes I dont think i would wanna move anywhere else. Then on the other hand I wont over sell it either, however Markham is a good area but not as densely populated with desis as Mississauga or Brampton and now Milton. Anyways good luck with your move and hope you like it here whenever you are here.

Toronto is considered a mosaic and not a melting pot - you do not have to give up your cultural identity in order to be an appreciated member of the larger society. While there is ignorance everywhere (including TO) - the PC police and the policy of multiculturalism promotes inclusion without having to risk assimilation.
Stardust09......is Markham your choice for a particular reason?
I would say East Coast (Ontario) is much more cosmopolitan, but as for me I prefer Calgary as it is not rushed.....it allows you to enjoy yourself as life is not as fast over here as compared to other bigger centers/cities. Calgary not only has scenic views, it has the most sunshine in terms of hours in a year in anywhere in Canada....it has decent University, awesum Children Hospital....avg. Hospitals but newer ones (and real good ones) are coming up in 2010.....and I would say most amazing access to Rockies where you can find most amazing wildlife on the sides of the roads and within 2/3 hours drive...(I know from ULs perspective it is pretty long drive) you can go into best skiing resorts in Fernie -BC or enjoy the royal horse riding or white water rafting near banff.....I can go on and on about Calgary.........:)
Go flames go.......lol
Honestly speaking, I have never seen more accepting population of a bigger city (I mean million plus population) where every religiion, race and community is respected.......and I think there are about 70,000-80,000 muslims in the city so you can say 7-8% of which Pakistanis are est to be 20-25k, so all in all a nice city to live and raise your family.....
The calgary party is making their case to lure the newcomer in ... where are all my torontonian frnds to make the case for toronto ... I can tell u this much ... from chaat papri to bun kabab to ganne ka ras to gola ganda ... we have it all ... and also something called a shawerma which my calgarian frnds are missing ... and yes i'm a big food junkie
this is from a torontonian who’s gone to calgary (not me): Calgary’s boooooooring! sure it’s pretty and not as congested, but it’s cold 10 months out of 12, it can dip to -27 there and snow’s a norm in may
I didn’t mean to come across as a professor giving a lecture - it’s just the topic harkens back to my uni days and the many papers I had to write on the topic!
