There are definitely some idiots who have jumped on the PPP bandwagon to benefit themselves, such as Rehman Malik.
But the PPP remains the only true party with nationwide appeal, and the only one with the calibre of leaders such as Aitazaz Ahsan.
True Bhutto still permeates the psyche of masses but let me try and clarify this
Bhutto was a clever man, a smart ass. Yes he was intelligent and all but he was also a big 'madaari'. He knew very well which segment of the society to target. He knew most of the voters came from the the jaahil masses and educated people comprised only 20% or so of the electorate. So he raised the slogan of roti, kapra and makaan in order to fool the masses, all a khuaab still to this day. He knew the educated city-dwelling baa shaoor people won't fall for this crap or empty slogan of his
Even in his native Sindh province most of the educated people I believe still vote for MQM. PPP support is mostly confined to rural or illiterate Sindh.
And to this day even in Punjab most of the support for PPP comes from the illiterate masses/rural Punjab. People like Aashiq Awan, Raja Riaz, Aftab Ahmed and Jahangir Badar are prime examples of that. And it shows in their character......the way they behave and conduct themselves in public is no different to how a jaahil doodhwala or gawala w'd behave. People in urban Punjab mostly go for PML-N. I know that Nawaz is as corrupt as the rest of them but facts are facts.
Not kidding but I have yet to meet an educated person in Islamabad who supports PPP. Most of them think that PPP is inherently corrupt....Their motto is '*bas khao, piyo, aish karo and never be held accountable for your hera pheri *and if someone (judiciary or establishment) ever dares to corner you, then conveniently use Sindh card or flee the country and take refuge in UAE' (as BB and Zardari did for so many years)...Hence no different from NS here :)
Someone should ask their blind supporters or jiyalas what has their party really done for their own people (rural Sindh esp.) or province. Karachi is what it is because of the contributions of urdu-speakers and pathans....period. There are not even proper roads in PPP strongholds like Larkana and Garhi Khuda Bakhsh. Is this also Punjab or establishment's fault?
Just today Fauzia Wahab's son Ali Wahab sent a threatening SMS to senior journalist Ansar Abbasi wishing him death! Ali later confessed his crime and apologised to the authorities who traced the SMS back to his mobile. I know there are one or two good people in PPP but the vast majority of them are just like this.... ghundey bad ma'ash
Let me ask you a simple Q why are there no Sindhi, Balochi or Pathan anchors on mainstream TV channels. Is this also Punjab or establishment's fault.... You have to earn respect in this world...pehle apni ehliyat manao, then complain... parhtey likhtey hain nahin and they want an equal share of the cake. Now tell me how is that possible?
