Well I went different on my wedding day- I wore a shalwar kameez. Sooo....to answer the question of where my wedding outfit is--->it's in my closet ready to be worn at another wedding.
My in-laws gave me a lengha for my valima- I've only worn it one other time. The next time I'll wear it is probably when my sis-in-law gets married. Currently...it's in a box in my closet.

I wore it to my devar's baraat this weekend. Its about six inches too long, and the bottom of the lengha kept getting caught on my shoes. I can handle heavy, but not when it's too long. And if I say anything it's "dulhan ka lengha aisi hi hota hai".. Err hello, I'm not going to be a bride forever! It really is a beautiful dress and maybe I've an unnatural attachment to it :p but it's such a shame that I will never wear it again (unless I grow six inches. Which i doubt will happen).

Sara just get some palettes (spell?) on the belt of the lengha, then you'll be able to wear it again. :)

I doubt you can get pleats with all that heavy kaam on it. When you go to Pakistan see if a tailor can cut it off from the top and re-attach the belt.

My red wedding lengah was made very light, elegant and in a very unique cut/design but i never got the chance to wear it again - at the time i was very slim/petite so would now need to have the kameez slightly adjusted to fit in to it. Otherwise, my walima ferozi lengah i have worn few times at others weddings and big events even though that one was fairly heavy - i just toned it down with minimal jewellery n elegant hair/make-up.

my baraat lengha is in my head , but my valima lengha is in my finace's house unsewn waiting for my size and from what i know its purple :)

I was planning to wear mine on my first wedding anniversary last month but at the end decided not to becoz it was just too heavy to walk around it but I did wear it that night for my husband. It bought back memories:halo: :halo:

hahahaha my weddin dress i in a box both of them. I used my barat dress once all my cus asked me to wear it again so they can seee the onez that were not at the weddin. other then that i have not touch any yet. but they are good memory i will look at them when i get older and gooo i used to fit in that.....

Sara, seriously...it's hard to handle a wedding lehnga and be the bari bahu at a wedding just because there is so much to do. You really have to make sure that things fit and that you will be able to manage with minimal holding required.
If it is too long then get it adjusted. You don't have to take it to Pakistan. I know of a very professional seamstress that can do it right here in Mississauga. Let me know when you want it done and I'll give you her number.
