Re: Your Wedding Lehnga - Where Is It Now?
When did you get married? if not too long ago I'm sure it will fit you, if a while ago, you are really maintaining yourself, keep it up.
i got married a long long time ago... 15 weeks ago :D
Re: Your Wedding Lehnga - Where Is It Now?

Ok, my Q… has anyone ever tried wearing their lengha as a faux-sari? Like tuck one corner of hte duputta into the waist and wrap it around and throw it over the shoulder like a palloo? I tried it wiht my wedding dress and it looks kinda nice I think! obv its not looking like a real sari (tho I think it could if the duputta was alot longer) but it looks kinda nice wrapped around… Muzna watchu think ![]()
Re: Your Wedding Lehnga - Where Is It Now?

Re: Your Wedding Lehnga - Where Is It Now?
Interesting topic...AND forum (as I'm visiting it for the very first time.)
Mine were both Lehngas....I wore both of 'em on a few occasions...the last I wore my walima one, which is gold n cream... was on my BIL's baraat...in December 2005.
And yes...nine years on, I still fit in my wedding outfits. hehe
Personally I thought of donating mine to some poor girls like my other cousins did....but my MIL (may her soul rest in peace) didn't like the idea that much...so They are still there, stored at our place back home.
Re: Your Wedding Lehnga - Where Is It Now?
Sara,
There are many ways to drape the dupatta of a lehnga to make it look different every time you wear it.
And I'm really happy to see that someone feels just like she did the first time she put on that outfit.
Now you know why I am so attached to my lehnga......
Re: Your Wedding Lehnga - Where Is It Now?
I'd been planning to wear it for our first anniversary, but then my sis and mom started pushing me to wear it at my sister's wedding, so I decided to wear it for the mehndi. I really don't know how people wear their wedding lehngas again. Despite having light kaam on it (compared to some of the ones I've seen), it was so difficult to wear it! I even managed to spill juice from her fruit platter on it.
I was so in love with my lehnga, but after that experience, I've a feeling it'll remain in the dress-bag sitting at the bottom of a suitcase.
Re: Your Wedding Lehnga - Where Is It Now?
Muzna the first time I tried it on I wasn’t very thrilled about it. Ammi even got mad and yelled at me for being na-shukri
but truth be told some of my favorite outfits took time for me to warm up to, so this was no different. When i tried it on this time it was like I was trying it on for my wedding :jano:![]()
So what are the other ways of draping it? I draped it two ways, the “sari” way and the typical way (one corner tucked into/pinned into the waist) and coming up over the right shoulder from behind.
PS I know I’m not alone in saying, we’d all LOVE to c your wedding pics!
Re: Your Wedding Lehnga - Where Is It Now?
^^ LOL at mrs saieen ur mum said u were na- shukri
Re: Your Wedding Lehnga - Where Is It Now?
That’s the stylye these days, they wear their lengha as sarees, which look pretty good, sometime they even wear it Gujriti style also look nice.

You'll see after some years old style always comes back, as along as you fits in it even after a long time, as some of them says they still fit them, like Mrs. Saieen.
Re: Your Wedding Lehnga - Where Is It Now?
So...enquiring minds want to know. You know that outfit that you spent 5 years planning? The perfect colour with the perfect accent and embroidery? The perfect fit with every inch measured and re-measured....fitted and re-fitted....the matching shoes and handbag that really wasn't good to carry anything....
Where is it now?
Still hanging in your closet cuz it hasn't been a year yet and you love to gaze at it occassionally?
Packed lovingly away in a suitcase?
Lying in the bottom of some box in the garage?
so take it out and wear it and take some pics cose i kno .... mine has been waiting for that special occasion to. its funny i come across this thread .. cose i have been thinking of doing an old fashion photoshoot in my wedding lehnga which i still abs love ...
mayb ill post pics sometime when i acually do it ...
:)
Re: Your Wedding Lehnga - Where Is It Now?
omggggggggg, my lehnga is gna be like a lilac colour with some white in it…and then he’s gna wear a dark purple tie just to make it match and then werr gna have like white and purple balloons and the tables will be set out with white and purple napkins and im gna steal some of the tissue and keep it with me forever just to remember the moment…and im going to have really light make up as i hate heavy make up…even if its my own wedding…and then werr gna play “thaare vaaste” all night long
…look at me getting excited over nothing ![]()
