Sorry about the spelling mistake Khawateen...It's 'rag-e-gul'...The 'rag' being like a vein or an artery of a flower...
Well, don't know much about the Dehi rebuttal but the Lukhnawis had brought it on themselves by coming up with their own title called a 'Baanka'...
In those times it was thought that the more fragile and nazuk a person is, the more refined, educated and better background he had, and no one beat the Lukhnawis in this...Something like this in my father's time was 'Chotti paishani, Harami ki nishani', so they would slap lots of oil on their heads and stretch their hair back...
Lukhnau was although the center of arts, literature and learning, Delhi boasted of having the throne, and no city where the king resided was going to be left out of the culture scene...
Don't know what happened, maybe the whole nazuk scene became outmoded and they started telling each other off, but one joke the Dilliwalas used to do about the 'Baankas' was they were so fragile that they would catch a cold if they ever stepped on a spinach leaf...:D
