Re: Your cousin's illegal status
No, i would say get married to a citizen if you want to live here or go back. If rizq is written in your fate, you will get it in Pakistan too or elsewhere.

Re: Your cousin's illegal status
How many of us report litter? It costs the government billions of dollars each year to clean it all up. When we see someone littering, do we pick up the phone and report them? How many of us report overspeeding vehicles to help save lives? Hardly any of us...
If we feel like being good samaritans, there are plenty of other ways to help.
I know of this guy who isn't illegal but hasn't been working for years and is living a pretty good life on social welfare, child support and a few other grant schemes. It did get on my nerves first but then I heard him going about family issues back in Pakistan - more than half the money he gets, he sends it back to Pakistan where his entire family relies upon that money. If he can't find a job in Ireland (he's been laid off for years), how can you guarantee him a job in Pakistan where unemployment rates are so blooming high?? Point being, we just don't know of whatever desperate situations these immigrants are in so we should mind our own business and let the authorities find and deal with these people at their own pace. If you're worried about our tax money being wasted, there's plenty of other ways where you can make a difference.
Re: Your cousin's illegal status
I had a 2nd cousin doing that in the UK. He came over on a student visa from an immigration scam non-existent college, and was working in a McDonald's (shame, because he was an electrical engineering graduate from Karachi). Didn't report him or anything, but didn't really establish any contact with him either.
Re: Your cousin's illegal status
^ thats quite common in UK...students come but instead of studying they end up working at shops...recently few students were deported back to their countries.
Re: Your cousin's illegal status
I knew a student who worked in a local shop. He was studying web design and security at a local uni ... he worked in a local desi shop and soon after befriending him I left the area ... and when I came back to visit another shop worker told me that he was caught stealing from the shop because the numbers were not adding with the accountant ... all in all £10,000 were missing. He bought a top of the range laptop and other things with his hot cash and he was fined an amount of money, he was taken to court and convicted and he spent 3 months in a UK prison and then deported.
Ouch! student life hey?
Re: Your cousin’s illegal status
I agree, particularly with the economoy being in the state it is and with all of the cut backs and the high rates of unemployment. I know many poeple who are having difficulties finding work, its seems unfair that people who dont have the right to be here legally have jobs when so many of us are struggling to find one. I also think people who take advantage of the illegals by exploiting them and paying them in pennies should be punished.
My parents didnt come to the UK through a back channel and neither did most of the desis i know. I don’t see what any illegal has to offer society here tbh.
Re: Your cousin's illegal status
mm illegals offer the society the equivalent of slave labor with no promise of any forms of benefits besides below market-rate wages. so no, they are the exploited ones. stop listening to BNP idiocy. those skipping taxes are not the illegals, its their fully legal employers.

exactly.
illegals are ready to do the low paying jobs that legal people would not do as the unemployment benefits pays more than those jobs. I am not sure where you guys got the idea that illegals are burden on this society. They are actually blessings in disguise.

Re: Your cousin's illegal status
Sazzie, its a myth that employers take advantage of illegal employees. At least in USA, you dont get paid for what you worth, but what the job is worth. A job that could only pay $7.00 an hour is going to pay the same to both legal and illegal. Problem is that legal person is probably going to say no to that job.
Another myth that employers save money when they hire illegal is also wrong. When they pay a legal person who has social security and pays taxes, then the employer can write that pay off in his taxes, When he is paying cash, he cannot write it off. He is better off hiring a legal guy, only problem is that he cant find a legal guy to do that job

Perhaps it's just the UK! Here for example, there are many pakistanis who own takeaway shops and seem to hire only illegals, the employees get way below the national minimum wage. The job is pretty similar to someone working in someplace like Burger King, except they get AT LEAST minimum wage if not more.
Re: Your cousin's illegal status
I'd be more worried about so-called "welfare kings/queens" people who live on public assistance... than illegal immigrants.
Also, I don't kno whow you guys can tell....but i can never tell how someone is an "illegal" immigrant or "legal" one....neither speaks english!

very easy. If its a desi guy and you ask for his name and he says Jimmy, Tommy or Max, he is illegal.
Re: Your cousin's illegal status
and desi girl?
Re: Your cousin's illegal status
^ simple if she says "jim, tom or maxy" :D

Unfortunately Ireland is all but bankrupt and cannot afford to pay for people sitting at home doing nothing. If he has spare money to send back home then welfare is obviously paying him too much. If he has spare money he has earned through working then fair enough.
Re: Your cousin's illegal status
Sorry, but wth? Why do that?
Anyone who wants to report someone who has done nothing wrong to him better have his act together.
That good-citizen burst of energy is better spent doing more beneficial and less disruptive like recycling, saving electricity, showing your exact income, assets, savings, dependents in your tax forms etc.
Re: Your cousin's illegal status
Personally, I really hate it when people jump the queue. It makes a mockery of those who followed the rules to get to their new country.
As for the guy who is sending his welfare money back home...I can't imagine anyone paying taxes in Ireland really wants their hard-earned cash used to support people in other countries, when the illegal guy won't even work for it.
Re: Your cousin's illegal status
I think those here who are supporting the illegal immigrants , clearly dont realize that they are not being responsible citizens, you must /should encourage good activity and discourage all that is illegal and against the law, be it illegal immigration, someone litering or parking wrong .. we have laws for a reason .. we work our heads off to pay high level of taxes ... what for? for the illegals to come in and use up the services for free? or sit on welfare for years and years and years ? it is just so not fair on us , who work really really hard to earn halal income ...
Re: Your cousin's illegal status
^because they're committing a crime?
They are not consider criminals.
No matter how many violations you have against immigration, you still wont have
a record.
Jin ka mulk hy unko koi problem naheen.... tu hum kion shekaiti tatoo baneen..
plus no one would be in this situation if the had some thing going back home.
