i just bought myself a personal torture device too...the braun epilator yayy i cant wait to scream my brains out with it. i heard the pain threshold improves over time though but i wanna know if i need to be worried about ingrown hairs with this too?
electrolysis, laser, waxing bah!....they all have some side effect no matter what..and u end up spending so much money. i say this is all a damn conspiracy to make women spend their money. we are only offered procedures that are not perfect. i mean look at mens products they are designed to work SO well....(e.g. viagara for instance....the ad says "in the event that u experience an erection lasting 6 or more hours, seek medical attention..." ! wth?!)... and womens products "it MAY help decrease the "appearance" if used for a zillion days and till then u better not go out in the sun and if u do and the wrinkles reappear then its YOUR FAULT..oh by the way it comes with a 30 day guarantee" or what the electrologist tells u after you ask her if there is a guarantee that the hair wont come back after the treatment?... "uh no" ..
ummm k thnx u can now take my hundred dollars and prick me with your electric needle.
why cant they just design one perfect hair removal device...and one perfect man while they are at it too. k this rant is over.
hahahahaha:D
I gotta say though, electrolysis DOES get rid of hair and I can vouch for that. Yes it's painful and yes it's time consuming, but it works. Now it's only budget friendly if you do small areas like the upper lip, chin, neck, sides of face and maybe the abdomen.
Now..with the epilator, I wonder if spraying on some topical anesthetic would numb the pain????
Are there like different types of epilators like for face and rest of the body or is it that one can do all... Also when buying one what features one should look for? And what are some of the brands that would last long? I am leaning on buying one but not quite sure what kind to buy.
Nope, Peshow sweety..its a good product and very easy to use. Its like a glove you simply "massage" the hairs away almost from the roots. When you have bought the glove, then you can buy the more applicates for 20 dollars....
They last long and hairs becomes thinner. There is also a small one for face areas and eyebrows.
I dont have much hairs.....so every 5th week does it for me. But Im vain dont even like the light colored hairs on my arms...lol I prepair the skin for removal a day before, by using oil (almond or olive cold pressed) and mix a few drops of lilac and apply to skin. So you avoid red or irretated skin the day after.......
Apricot oil is better, but hard to get here......
Pathani since you started using it, was there any actual reduction in hair growth? IS the skin red afterwards? Does anyone who if its available in UK? ooohhh temptation...
argh hair removal I hate it why did god have to give us woman hair apart from on our head lol anywayz i use 4 diff types of hair removal:
To begin with ive tried laser hair removal for my face both 4rm ppl here in the uk and 4rm this place in islamabad, both didnt work my hair still grew back , it jus depends 4rm person to person
i usually use waxing on my arms and other areas, though i dont think u shud use wax on the face it makes the skin loose well so ive heard , tho putting a bit of talc on the area of ure body ure about to wax helps to ease the pain
I also sumtimes use an epilator 4 my arms and underarms it hurts at 1st but it does teh job and is great if ure in a hurry since there is no mess 4rm the wax:D
i also use removing cream its not shaving its the creams that dissolve the hair lol, theyre pretty gud but the hair grows back quickly, i only use that if i havent got my epilator or wax but i only use it on my legs
Also whn u r gettin threading dun on ure face apply tea tree oil afterwards to help prevent a breakout i also read in a magazine sumwhr that u can apply bonjela to your upperlip 15 mins b4 u get it threaded it really helps with the pain apparantly:D

I will look it up for you, TV-shop is usually available in most EU countries.
It does help a lot, the hairs become finer...weaker
You dont need to remove the hairs so often...growth speed is slowed down.
Nope, the skin is not red or irretated.
Whenever you shower or remove hairs etc. use oil instead of creams. It keeps the skin moisturized tens times better than creams.
Ingrown hairs:
After removal of hairs, massage your legs or etc with a rough spoonge. Then it wont grow inside....or appear as pimple..... Also stimulates the circulation in your legs.
Oh Thanks Pathani…would you really recommend it? When you used it for the first time, did it take the hair away straight away? Does it take it from the roots? How often do you use it and at the beginning?

ok I did try the epilator and used it on my arms. I dont know if im doing something wrong but it seems like its not really lifting the hair from the root. its just cutting at the surface..seriously all that pain and no gain! am i doing something wrong? I followed the instructions.

Yes, i recommend it. It takes away from small fine hairs to the much thicker hairs. Yes, by the roots. Well, I have fine hairs on my arms and a little on front of knees. I think, since showing legs is not an issue and neither having partner, so every 10-14th day kinda does it for me. I hate hairs like hell. Duno...just so ugh!
A neighbour of ours, claims she is very satisfied with the product (very hairy)....i think she uses it more regular kinda every 6th day.
You can use this product on sensitive areas as well.
Thanks Pathani...i hate hair too. Even tho im married, the slight lil patch of hair is annoying! I shall buy that soon...

I also use something like this. It’s called Silky Mit and you can get the bigger pads for legs and arms and small ones for the face. The ones for the face are especially good - you get a rubber holder and stick plaster like strips to it, then rub over the area you want to remove hair from. I get it from Superdrug and it’s about £2.50.
There is also a metal holder version which you can but from the Kleeneze catalogue that you get through the door - but that is harsher and as it’s a round facial disc it’s not ergonomically the best!

Yeh, I agree, but Boots do sometimes have some really good 3 for 2 offers.
Also, when you go to Superdrug, check out this hair minimiser lotion that you can buy, it really works! I can't quite remember the name of it, but I used to get it from Superdrug. It's in the same area as the hair removal creams and stuff. It's made with fruit enzymes.
^ Are you sure? Mine is definitely ripping them from the roots. There may be the occasional breakage, but not a lot. Which one do you have?
(FYI -- I can only use mine on my arms and the bottom half of my legs (below knees) -- everywhere else it is too painful!!)
i have the braun silk epil...I use the lowest setting since it can get so painful and i run it back and forth on the arms but its still just breaking them off.
