This stupid guy Jamshaid Dasti who started this controversy with match-fixing claims, is now hot topic in Media, not because of match fixing claims but because he gave maa-behen (and more) kee galiaan at National Assembly floor to a PML(Q)'s MNA. Tell a lot about his background.

KARACHI : Sindh Assembly has requested Pakistan Cricket team captain Younus Khan to withdraw resignation and asked National Assembly standing committee on sports to ask ICC for imposing ban on umpire Simon Taufel, Aaj News reported.
Provincial Minister for Sports Muhammad Ali Shah said in the Assembly that levelling allegation about match fixing on Pakistan Cricket team is condemnable.
He further said team has performed well in ICC Champions Trophy. Pakistan lost the semi-final due to wrong decisions of umpires.
He demanded for imposing one year ban on Australian umpire Simon Taufel.

LONDON: The chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Altaf Hussain said MQM will hold countrywide protest if Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) accept the resignation of Younis Khan.
In a statement, Altaf Hussain said it is regrettable that some elements framed baseless charges against national cricket team captain Younis Khan to defame him which forced Younis to tender resignation.
MQM leader said he will appeal the players of the team to resign in protest if PCB governing body accepts the resignation of Younis Khan. He demanded the government to fire the elements present in governing body that fetched the conspiracy against renowned player such as Younis Khan. He also demanded action against chairman National Assembly Standing Committee for sports who accused Younis for match-fixing.

KARACHI: Younis Khan on Thursday sat down on the bargaining table with Ijaz Butt in Lahore and told the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman that he will only change his mind about resigning as captain if his tenure is extended till the 2011 World Cup.
However, at the end of the meeting the duo failed to resolve a crisis which began with Younis’s decision to resign as captain and has snowballed into a major headache for the PCB.
The Pakistan skipper, who resigned on Tuesday as a protest against match-fixing allegations levelled at his team by the chief of a parliamentary committee, also made it clear during the ‘detailed meeting’ that he wanted more powers to ensure better results from his team.
Sources told ‘The News’ that overall it was quite a cordial meeting in which Younis offered to take back the captaincy though there were a few strings attached.
According to the sources, Butt told Younis that he would consider the conditions but will need some time before making a final decision.
Later, a brief PCB statement said that the Board will announce the details of the Younis-Butt meeting within the next few days. “Chairman PCB and Younis Khan met today. A detailed discussion was held. (The) details of this meeting will be announced in the next few days,” said the statement.
Sources said that Younis didn’t mince words when he told Butt that the uncertainty surrounding his captaincy is making his job more and more difficult.
He sought some guarantees from the PCB chief and also asked him to review the appointment of a couple of team officials.
If Butt decides to stick with Younis then there are chances that the Pakistan team which will be announced for next month’s limited-overs series against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi and Dubai might not include a few senior players.
It is an open secret Younis doesn’t enjoy very good relations with the team officials as well as some of the players. According to a source close to him, Younis wants Butt to give the team management and the players a clear message that the Board will continue backing him as captain even in difficult times.
Sources said that the allegation of Jamshed Dasti, the chairman of National Assembly’s standing committee on sports, only added fuel to fire and forced a frustrated Younis to resign as captain.
Dasti, a member of the ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), said after Pakistan’s defeat against New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy semifinal in South Africa that he would probe into reports that the national team may have deliberately thrown the game as well as its earlier match against Australia.
Sources said that Younis was left fuming even before that wild accusation because of the fact that Butt held a one-to-one meeting with vice-captain Shahid Afridi in Lahore last week. The meeting ignited speculations that the Board wanted Afridi as Pakistan’s one-day captain and even though Butt denied it, the damage was done.
“What Younis wants is an end to all this uncertainty,” said a source close to Younis. “He wants the players and the officials to know that he is their captain for at least the next two years so that they can stop conspiring against him,” said the source.
Meanwhile, Butt will hold a series of brainstorming sessions with the Pakistan team management, the captain and vice-captain in Lahore on Friday (today).
According to Board sources, the meeting is primarily aimed at discussing Pakistan’s performance in the Champions Trophy. However, it is expected that the team formation for next month series against New Zealand will also come under serious discussion.

There was no breakthrough and both parties failed to reach an agreement. Younis submitted his resignation in protest to the PCB chief during a hearing of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Sports in Islamabad Tuesday. The hearing was convened after committee chairman Jamshed Dasti said he would investigate reports that Pakistan had deliberately under-performed against Australia and New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy. Dasti later denied making match-fixing allegations and said his remarks had been misunderstood. Younis, who led Pakistan into the semi-finals of the competition, said he was shocked with talk about under-performing against Australia as Pakistan defended a low total of 205 against the world champions till the final ball. “Such allegations demoralised me and the team. I don’t think any honourable and respectable person can tolerate such accusations made publicly. Nothing is more important for me than my self respect. Cricket comes later.”
Sources said Younis had told Ijaz he would only withdraw his resignation if certain conditions were accepted by the board. “Younis has made his position clear and the ball is now in the court of the PCB,” sources added. Sources said there were also other issues behind Younis’ decision to resign, including his relationship with team-mates. “He now wants the board to appoint him captain until the 2011 World Cup so that any players having ambitions of replacing him know the situation clearly and just focus on their game.”** The differences between Younis and some other players started during the last tour of Sri Lanka, mainly due to the strict attitude of the skipper who has a reputation of being a no-nonsense person. Sources said more players were backing all-rounder Shahid Afridi or Shoaib Malik as skipper and were even ready to revolt if Younis was restored as captain at this stage. There are clear signs that if the PCB eventually succeeded in convincing Younis to take over the captaincy, it may face a revolt from the players. And in case it succumbs to the player-power, the political and public pressure in favour of Younis will be killing for the board officials.**
They said the PCB chief was also keen to resolve the crisis as soon as possible since there was pressure building on the board from all quarters to convince Younis to withdraw his resignation. “What is significant and will be interesting to see is how much leverage is Ijaz willing to give Younis and fulfill his demands, one of which is that he should be announced as captain until the next World Cup.” Younis led Pakistan to victory in the Twenty20 World Cup in July and a host of former Test players have urged him to withdraw his resignation. Cricket fans held a protest on Wednesday outside the PCB headquarters. Members of the North West Frontier Province Assembly, in Younis’ home province, demanded that action should be taken against Dasti while the Mutthaida-e-Qaumi Movement, a coalition partner in the government, said it was considering countrywide street protests.

I watched the much debated match minute by minute, ball by ball with my Johnson n Jonsons lense aided eyes and I could not find anything fishy in the entire event, much less YK's alleged dropped catch! Those people are simply disgracing Pakistan's loyal servants...I don't friggin understand why do such things keep propping up every now and then? Don't these fellas have anything but to keep creating mountains out of a mole hill??? It's high time that such people learn to appreciate everything under the sun, ignore their itsy bitsy mistakes and keep the media at bay; because ghar ki baat ghar me he rehni chahye! I hate reading negative headlines about my favs in the Indian newspapers!

in retrospect, that was truly third class of Younis... at the time, he was given the benefit of the doubt. but now that it's obvious that he is more than a little "unstable", it was very a unprofessional and stupid thing that he did.
firstly, he did this in Shehryar Khan's tenure who was undoubtedly the best PCB supremo we've had in at least the last decade. in fact, I can't remember a better PCB chief than Shehryar sahib. the man was sheer class. a wise man who didn't feel the need to hog the limelight like Daaaktar Nasim Ashraf and wasn't a mental patient like that Jarnail-e-azam Tauqeer Zia who must be the worst chief that I saw. the PCB might one day become a professional organization if it gets chiefs as wise and sensible as Shehryar Khan. and secondly, Younis let Bob Woolmer down. Bob was nothing but class and Younis benefited from Bob's support more than anyone else. at least he could have talked to Bob before starting his whiny drama...
and I must say I'm getting a little tired of this "oh I'm so unpredictable... and I have so much pride because I'm a Pathan". give me a f'ing break. get off the superiority complex already. your ancestors might have been warriors... but you're a cricketer... you don't hunt mountain lions with your bare hands like you seem to think you do. I don't want to make any more ethnic comments because I see myself as a Pakistani first and foremost. but it would be good if the captain of our national team would also see things that way. you don't see Wasim or Waqar talk constantly about how being Punjabi influenced their cricket or captaincy.

I would seriously doubt if Malik was up to anything now. Malik clearly said when Younis was appointed as captain that he had only become captain after the WC because Younis refused the captaincy. otherwise Younis was always going to be captain. that doesn't sound like someone who wants to get rid of Younis. seems like he was being realistic and sensible...
chacha Afridi is a different case though. there are some words in Punjabi that can't be translated or explained... and meesna is one of those words. and if this word ever fit anyone, it fits Afridi. he will undermine Younis every chance he gets just like he did with Malik. I think it was Wasim who recently commented sarcastically on TV that Afridi had been trying very hard to get the captaincy when asked to comment on Afridi becoming the T20 captain. Wasim made this comment twice back to back in the same interview. when Malik was captain, Afridi undermined him constantly every time he opened his big mouth. he knows he can't afford to be that reckless with Younis considering Younis' stature as a player. but I'm positive that if players create problems for Younis, Uncle Afridi will be in there being a part of the problem...

Younis Khan reacted to something which was unfair and totally uncalled for. My point is we should focus on who started all this drama and Dasti has just got away with murder after slandering Pakistan's reputation. He should not go unpunished regardless of the fact that he belongs to PPP. The party should take him to task instead of shielding him. The real culprit here is dasti and lets not forget that.

Ijaz Butt, the Pakistan board chairman, has given Younis Khan the backing he wanted, insisting he will remain ODI captain until the 2011 World Cup.
Butt appears to have ended days of speculation over the future of the Pakistan captaincy, reiterating once again that he had not accepted Younis' resignation. Younis handed in his papers last week after attending a National Assembly committee meeting, in which allegations of match-fixing during Pakistan's semi-final loss to New Zealand were investigated. Those charges - as well as persistent politicking in the team by a group of players to undermine his leadership - were reasons believed to be behind his move.
Butt, however, rejected the resignation and opted to meet Younis privately instead, in a bid to change his mind. It is believed that at the meeting Younis laid down conditions which had to be accepted before he could return: he wanted to streamline the selection process, an assurance of a lengthier tenure than just on a series-by-series basis, and also changes in the team management. The PCB held meetings to discuss the matter though the meeting with the governing board today is said not to have raised the subject.
Though Butt did not speak of any such conditions, he was unequivocal in his support for Younis. "When I first appointed him in January 2009, there was no tenure for his captaincy but obviously sometimes security is needed. He is definitely our captain till the 2011 World Cup provided he remains fit. His performance has been excellent, he is fit, he has won a World Cup and as long as the selectors keep picking him, he is our choice as captain," Butt told Cricinfo.
Earlier, Butt had rejected Younis' resignation during an eagerly-awaited press conference at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, saying he understood why Younis handed in his papers. "I have not accepted Younis Khan's resignation. There is no justification in removing him as captain. I realise and understand his reaction. Had I been in his place I would've done the same."
Though Younis could not be reached for comment, Butt said he had agreed to take up the captaincy one again.
