They didn't purse education for a reason....
Re: Would you say yes to a guy who...
and why should a family "push" their child for formal education. Here we are talking about freedom and making decisions for ourselves, but still want ammi and aba hazoor to push us for studies?
They can encourage their child to study further but it's not their responsibility. It's the way parents decide their child needs to be in a certain career (medical, engineer etc) and force that upon their child. It's wrong.
haven't you seen 3 idiots :D

Depends on the question he asked.
This.
Re: Would you say yes to a guy who…
Further education in this day and age seems a joke… all that money and effort and for just a bit of glorified paper… sometimes that paper porves no competence anyway. Its experience and determination that count in my books… ![]()
…If the guy posses charisma, charm, loyatly, keen intelligence, the desire to work hard and like myself yearns for success and is willing to defy the usual systems and norms by proving he is a free thinking and succesfull candidate… then I would have no reason to reject his proposal for my daughter, so what if he did not go to further education?
Just because a man has a degree makes him no better or worse as a husband and fellow man… so long as he can stand up on his own two feet and work hard to prove himself… and if he truly loves the woman he proposes for then it does not matter if he is the son of a tailor and I was an emperor I believe in giving a man a fair chance. I too was once given a chance and I loved the oppurtunity of striking back at a harsh and unforgiving world.

Re: Would you say yes to a guy who...
I have a cousin whose education was stopped after high school because his dad had heart attack and he had to take over their business. They are financially very well settled but he couldn't further his education but overall a very bright person. His wife has a master's degree and they make a nice couple. Sometimes well educated families have problems for which their kids are not able to further their education. His sisters however both have master's degrees MasAllah.

If you say he is from a very good family, really good looking and overall a very decent person then why not. But only if he is planning to pursue a career in future. :) No problemo

Irony is cool.
Re: Would you say yes to a guy who...
Most uneducated single Pakistani men in America are big losers and party animals and doubled-face ... They are not responsible and don't have the traits to provide a good life to their families. Yes, I am generalizing due to my experience... HELL NO TO UNEDUCATED MEN!!!
I hope for your sake he has a PhD or something......Talk about demands.
Re: Would you say yes to a guy who…

Re: Would you say yes to a guy who…
such beautiful poetic verses ..
Re: Would you say yes to a guy who...
What are his future plans? What does he do? Is he stable? Does he have his own business?
I know love is all fine and dandy but love doesnt feed families. He doesnt have to be rich but is he comfortable?
Re: Would you say yes to a guy who…
Thankyou, but I’m a lame poet really just look at my poor work in the Poetry section. ![]()
Reha you make a fine point too but then surely an unstable guy would not be so quick to marry… unless he was digging for gold. ![]()

There is no love in the equation. Its the whole cousin marriage deal.
He's stable in Pakistan (his family is!) but he's expected to leave Pakistan after marriage and live in the United States.
So is not having an education going to be a REALLY big problem trying to make a living here?
Re: Would you say yes to a guy who…
Aah that throws a spanner in the works allright. ![]()
Well then I blame your fammily (with all due respect) it’s thier fault cant they see it’s a bad idea…?
Maybe you need to check with your fammily if they have any afterplans once he gets to the states if they have it all figured out maybe you can leave it to them… if they give you aload of errs and umms best to ask them to re-consider thier options and yours. ![]()

Actually yes it will be! He may be a great guy and not have the education from back home - but does he have any interest in pursuing higher studies when he's abroad?
Not to say he can't succeed in business here, but he needs to be very entrepreneurial and have business savvy that may differ from what it takes to succeed in Pakistan. To succeed at business in a new place is a huge risk. Not saying it can't be done - but only certain types of people can do so.
