The size of the wallet doesn't matter at all! You know, in this day of debit and credit cards, the wallet need not be large anymore to be able to keep me in designer shoes ;)

She doesn't need to be a kick-ass chef but some cooking is always nice. Respect wouldn't be the word for it though. Appreciated more? Just like your mom makes you food, that's not the only reason you'd respect her but you do appreciate her cooking.
I think if either of the partners can cook somewhat decent, that's good enough. Ramen noodles can become quite boring.
