I am just going to answer that, although I can give you a 50 para long answer on each sentence of yours.

having a dirty/twisted mind, and using/promoting women as sex object - are two different things. Its not conservatives who are sponsoring “SLUT” walks. its not conservatives who hang sexy posters of female models in bikinis in malls outside VS stores.

Product sells if it’s in demand! Stop watching it, the industry will collapse eventually..

and please can we not discuss this “O and for the record, the biggest porn watchers come from the most conservative countries”. Its just creeps me out when people condemn consumers more than producers of a product. USA govt is running after tobacco manufactures and not tobacco users.

O so let’s not hold the consumers responsible for obesity or any other problems either. You have to accept some accountability. You can’t just blame the producer for making it and selling it. If the buyers are there, it will sell. And let’s not forget where all of this begin. I would rather vote in porn industry’s favor then accept sex slavery, which by the way is live and kicking in Saudi Arab and many other countries even when it’s illegal. I am just saying.. conservatives like to think liberalism is the root of all evil but remember you point a finger at us we will point a million at you.

There are many thing including but not limited to

• Teaching Quran to kids (in many mosques after asar namaz)
• work as the security guard.
• work as person who take care of the mosque, cleans it and manage day to day repairs etc
• many mosques have early morning quran classes too

add to the free community services like Nikah, Funeral and etc

Basically, I want my imam to be at masjid, even if he just reading a book to increase his ilm, than to work in a factory at his spare time to support his family.

during Ramadan, my mother would give the imam who leads the taraweeh prayer during the month some money at the khatam. Because she knows this imam might have to spend more time memorizing the quran than work.

I honestly believe that you are more intelligent than what your comments suggest otherwise. Negative marketing is when you capture otherwise innocent minds and lure them into all kinds of crap and for that, you only blame producers. Plus, porn websites are just one thing, but who is buying (and selling) playboy, hustler and other trashy magazines? Is it Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Iran or your favorite open minded western countries? Please do tell me where the sex toy selling is at its highest profitability? In which country, cosmetic surgeries (aka boob jobs) are actually an industry?

At the imambargahs that I've ever attended, those with the funding from annual membership retain the services of a resident aalim who is usually a very learned maulana who has done proper Islamic studies. They are paid the monthly salaray (these are living wages and not merely a stipend). They also make additional income for presiding over nikkahs, doing bismillahs and other events where they are invited. During the week, they study and particpate in community learning and teaching, and even for some counselling - they are considered a resource for the community and I personally feel quite fortunate that they are available and accessible to us.

As to the question of whether I would let my child marry such an aalim, I would permit her to do so if she was accepting of the religious strictures of being married to a more pious man than her parents were and this is what she wanted and would be happy with.

actually Nik posted this thread because we were discussing that and honestly, other than the 2nd marriage thing, we found no objection. I would love to have an aalim/imam as my son in law.

Yes but unlike narcotics, sex is a necessity. It's a natural process. No one introduces you to sex unless it is done way before a child even hits puberty.

Innocent my behind! Again, you are comparing two very different things. The porn industry is what it is, there's no negative/positive marketing. What I find deceptive/negative is when they use sex to sell a completely unrelated product for example what you see at Auto/car shows. They use provocatiely dressed models to lure people.

And you have a problem with this because? Most nose jobs surgeries are performed in Iran, does that tell you anything? NO. Women want to look beautiful and yes media to be blamed for it to an extent. It does change our perception of beauty. When dumb people have money, they do dumb things.
